The sensation the child caused threatened to intensify slightly when the child slipped her hand in Seraphina's, but the elder found it could be ignored. Knowing the source helped. Rather than 'squish' the child, Seraphina crouched down to her level. She had been a mother many times, and had played at being a nurturing one for the right reasons a time or two. "Is that all?" Seraphina gave a concerned pout. "You had no tricks or devilry in mind for whatever poor wretch tried to be a good Samaritan and help you out? That's disappointing. You seem to have so much potential in these tiny little hands." Seraphina squeezed her hand lightly to emphasize the point.
"Do you fear your own kind?" Seraphina asked. There wasn't really a wrong answer there, it was a simple curiosity. To say yes would be smart, to say no would be bold... possibly stupid, but bold. "I find we kindred can sometimes be more effective when acting together."
