Though she wouldn’t describe herself as adventurous when it came to frequent trips out of the house, Aetheria had to admit that she was getting quiet good at calling for a taxi for herself. Of course, a lot of her success came from the fact that the company she regularly called realized that when they answered the phone and received a series of keypad presses (they had arranged a code number for her to type in), they knew to send a driver to the Elias household. There was, also, only one part of town that Aetheria visited on a near frequent basis: Snow White Sweets was her absolute favorite place to buy candy and lots of it. She would have preferred to have Aurora, or any other member of her family, with her, but she had elected herself dessert maker for this evening’s meal and she wanted everyone to be surprised with her self-concocted recipe. More than anything she wanted to see the delighted smile on everyone’s faces when they tasted her bubblegum, gummy bear, and Twizzler ice cream dish; it would be worth the experience of venturing out on her own.
“How you manage to keep balance is a marvel, Aetheria.” Kiana chirped the compliment from her position flying over the elemental’s head. Her arms were laden with bags, five to be exact, each full with enough candy to last her the rest of the month (or two weeks, depending on whether or not she left it out in the open and easily found). The small smile that rose to her lips drooped slightly before she could respond once she reached another cross-section of streets. Her decision to take a walk through town had transformed into becoming lost. Kiana, who was usually more adept at keeping Aetheria from forgetting the way home, had only realized that they had gotten turned around a second after her ward had. A pang of guilt struck Aetheria’s stomach; she knew she should have called the cab service back the second she was done, but it had been weeks since she had explored the world outside her house freely. “Don’t worry, Ae, we’ll find someone to help us!” Obviously, her familiar was trying to keep her from becoming distraught. It was a considerably easier task considering the amount of sugar within Aetheria’s reach.
She had walked a few blocks further in search for someone to ask for directions. Where once there had been no one, suddenly there were tons of people. Aetheria gave a tiny croak when she was suddenly engulfed by the crowd. Kiana swooped down and landed in her hair, giving her an anchor amongst the waves of people. She seems friendly. Can we talk to her, please? There was only a mild amount of panic in her voice. One slight mental nudge from the chickadee and Aetheria was in one of her bags, breaking open the plastic around the chocolate covered almonds. She approached the stranger, hand extended with several of the chocolate treats in the palm. ‘Hello!’ Kiana left Aetheria’s head for a moment to flap her wings near the other woman’s face to catch her attention before returning to her perch. “We’d like to know what’s going on here. Also, she says you’re welcome to some almonds if you’d like!”
