Free me before I slip away
Who: Brodie and Gavin
Where: Gavin's place
When: Just before dawn
Brodie was no longer sure how long it had been since he had touched the barrier and all hell had broken lose again. He had not slept, eaten or drank since then and he had only gotten home because Zeke had driven him, otherwise he would still be writhing on the ground somewhere. After determining that even the contact between his fingers and his gloves (which he had since lost) had been compromised Brodie thought he was going to go insane. At some point, delirious and alone he had started to wander the streets of Scarlet Oak for hours, not stopping for fear of touching something and getting more visions on top of the ones he still couldn't wipe off his brain. At this point he just wanted to switch his mind off somehow. Having the same horrible thing happen twice in, what, a month? It was too much.
At the very brink of dawn, half due to exhaustion half to instinct, Brodie realized he had wandered into Gavin's neighborhood. He dragged his feet to the building in question, unsure whether to ring the bell or not. He didn't know why but he really wanted to see Gavin; if not him then someone, anyone, but what he really wanted was to be taken out of his own head, where the horrible visions he'd been plagued with since the barrier still held firm ground. Brodie stood on shaky legs a while wondering whether or not to ring the bell - not out of some form of shyness, but because it was going to hurt. His phone was the other choice, but it was not going to be better.
Beaten by exhaustion and sensory disarray Brodie eventually decided to just do it, like ripping a band-aid. He rang the bell to Gavin's and was immediately assaulted with more horrible visions, the kind of things the most talented horror writers and directors couldn't have come up with in the history of the genre. It was filthy, and scarring and, worst of all, neverending. Not seconds later Brodie crumbled to his feet in tears, covering his head with his hands only to receive another dose of horror.
