I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind Who: Dominic and Camilla Where: Their penthouse at Cherryblossom Place When: Morning
Dominic couldn't sleep. It wasn't as if that was terribly new to him - in the wake that was the whole bullshit with Ashton and Keira, he had never adjusted to sleeping alone, unless he managed to drink enough to get the wolf in him drunk. He was always up, wondering about Keira, furious about Ashton, disappointed in himself for losing his magic, the whole nine yards. Over the last couple weeks, he'd been doing better, and kept himself out of trouble for the most part. Matteo had even called, and Dom's father wasn't exactly the warm, fuzzy kind they made Hallmark movies about, to be sure. Mostly, his father had been glad that Dominic wasn't draining his bank account with all of his gambling debts, that's all. That was about as heartfelt as any of the Agostinos were likely to get.
But still, last night, his thoughts had plagued him. It didn't help that Camilla's birthday - his and Camilla's birthdays - was tomorrow, and he'd still yet to get his sister a present. He knew better than to get his sister clothes or jewelry, she designed things better than you could just buy in a store, but he'd think of something. He always did, when it came to Milla. This morning he just needed something to keep his hands busy and his mind from wandering. Otherwise he'd end up right back at some crappy little dive bar, seeing who he could convince to play a game or two.
So he was in the kitchen, whipping up breakfast. Between him and Camilla, the place was always decently stocked, and they had enough on hand to make French toast. He was just adding the last two pieces to the pan when he heard Camilla moving elsewhere in the apartment. "I really hope you're eating carbs this week," he said, jokingly, as his sister walked into the room. "Otherwise I'm going to be in the gym for the next week to work all of this off." It smelled good, at least, and he was hungry, but he'd been cooking with the intention to share it with her.
