strange things are happening to me Who: Madeleine and Zaviar Where: Madeleine's house When: Mid-afternoon
His afternoon lunch was too well-cooked.
Zaviar had not been distracted by the news, which was buzzing in the background at near-mute and had gotten him shouted at by Antonin who thought it needed to be louder and only stopped muttering when Zaviar had given him a very direct sort of look, but rather by the fact that Knight had had been acting like a dog. He always showed off dog-like characteristics and it stood to reason that Zaviar should expect it out of his familiar since he was a german shepherd... but he had always been so well-behaved. When he had gone out into the yard to feed and water him, he had been beyond surprised to find that there were holes dug into the neatly-cut grass, the formerly even and green blades strewn about with clumps of dirt scattered all the way up to the doorstep. And Knight - who knew better - was sitting there with a dripping wet muzzle and paws, no sign of dirt or grass on him. Zaviar knew exactly what had happened; the creature had made a mess and then cleaned himself up so that it could not be proven, but he did not understand why his familiar seemed to be any measure of distressed. And Knight was not telling him. When he asked, all that the dog would do was remark that he clearly did not understand.
Which was completely correct - Knight was distressed over what was happening at the school that Zaviar taught at and more, over the fact that his master did not give a singular damn about it. Students and fellow staff members and parents were vanished inside of that impenetrable bubble and Zaviar's only concern was what had done it. How was it keeping people out? What was happening inside? Should it drop and a multitude of dead bodies be found inside, he would not twitch an eyelash. Why should he? None of the students were overly bright or interesting, except for the occasional demonic who showed promise, the rest of the staff was made up of simpering idiots and the parents? If they had raised those children then they deserved whatever happened to them. Which he was not thinking out of any sort of malice, but more just because... it made far more sense to him than actually caring.
As Zaviar tossed out his over-cooked sausage for Knight to eat, his phone went off. He was not surprised that it was Madeleine, but he was surprised by what she said. Why on earth would Lila vanish when her daughter was pregnant? Then something had clicked in his head as he started out the door, Knight hard on his heels since he was not about to see what else he destroyed, and he smirked. When he pulled up to Madeleine's and the door opened to reveal the red-headed fire elemental, the smirk was still playing on his lips. "She probably went chasing the mailman when he wore a pair of tight pants." He definitely did not even glance down towards her stomach, sure that would earn him a glare or even a singed body part, as though he was implicating he could see her getting bigger.
