you have limitations, don't go chasing flies Who: Nora and Zoie Where: Their apartment When: Evening
While Zoie waited for the delivery guy to get there - she was really hoping that he would beat Nora, because that was a key part of her plan to keep her sister's moderate temper at bay - she was seated at the table with her guinea pigs in front of her. Dean was busy wolfing down the pile of timothy hay that she had set in the middle of the table while Sam kept having to be turned away from the edge, he seemed to want to do nothing more than jump. Zoie had a sneaking suspicion that he was trying to play with Aurum, the more playful of Nora's kittens. Zoie would have been glad to let him go and play except for that part where she was also half-sure that playful could turn into biting and then she would cry and her earlier issue would resurface and then she would have to go to the hospital and her plans to try and turn away Nora's temper over that morning and her lack of staying home from work... well... they would not work. At all. They might not even work now, but they had at least a chance of it.
"She might skin me this time," Zoie informed Sam as she picked him up, holding the little guinea nose-to-nose as he made that little grunting noise. "Take my skin and make little tiny Zoie!dolls out of it. At least those dolls won't go and do things they shouldn't." Like go to work and stay there the whole day. Much less end up talking to a guy who was real when she had been told for her entire life that he was not real... oh and he was not human either, she knew that. What exactly he was? She had yet to figure that out, she was still grasping at straws to get it, but she would... though whatever he was? He can't fix me. That realization still stung a little and she had almost no desire to tell Nora that Regan was real, because if she asked then she would have to say it again and she did not-
Her slightly morose thoughts were cut off by the sound of a key turning in the door. Damnit. Zoie very rarely swore in her head or outloud, but Nora's arrival before the Chinese was not supposed to happen. At all. That was not according to the plan. "Heeeeeeeey Nora," Zoie said in her most cheerful voice as she cuddled Sam to her chest, turning in her chair. Her smile stumbled a little, but managed to stay in place even when she saw the look that was on Nora's face. The one that said 'oh I know exactly what you did and I am not amused'. Zoie had seen that look a few different times, and every time it did not go well. "You know, there's supposed to be Chinese waiting here for you, with extra eggrolls, but the guy hasn't gotten here yet and... it's my way of... saying... I'm fine now?" Her hands were not even shaking a little, tiny bit!
