With all of that out in the open, Kajsa felt more color drain out of her face. Not that she hadn't already been pale to begin with. As Ryan gestured for her to sit, she figured the money bit had caught his attention. That was when she first noticed the snake slithering across the back of the couch. "Oh," Kajsa took a quick step back before she realized this was probably a familiar. Most snakes didn't come out to play when it was this cold out. She should have been used to it. It was just like hanging out with Strike, who was seriously in need of a pop culture education but had all their best interests at heart. "Um, hello," Kajsa nodded at the snake before moving forward again to take a seat. She tilted her head at Ryan for a second as she realized that he was either an elemental or a witch. She had both in her family and they had their familiars. She didn't have one because she wasn't exactly like the rest of them. If the snake was even a familiar. She was getting ahead of herself.
Finally taking a proper look at the man across from her, Kajsa felt her cheeks warm. She'd seen enough naked people but that was from a lifetime ago. Although, if the reason she was here was any indication, apparently not. "Um..." she tried starting again, suddenly distracted by the fact that her host seemed to not actually be wearing anything appropriate for receiving guests. "Well..." Kajsa debated how much to exactly tell him. "Okay, I'm sure you've heard of what's going on at school. My...my mother and brother are in there," she whispered the last bit, looking down at the floor. "There isn't anything I can do for them while they're in there, but when they come out, I can't have my mother worrying about me. She has enough to worry about...especially when I can't imagine what could be going on in there." She glanced at the window, even if she wasn't sure where it was actually facing. Looking back at Ryan, she continued, "I don't know for sure, but I'm almost certain they aren't being treated to tea and crumpets. Either way, I need to remove things that would worry her away and something that could worry her...well, I'm...pregnant and...the father...he's not involved...anymore, at least." Kajsa was a horrible liar. "That's not important. I need someone around that can reassure my mother when she gets back that I have someone else to rely on and she doesn't have to worry about me anymore. And she can focus on herself and getting better." And her baby. Her hands were shaking so she clamped them between her knees as she wondered if he even wanted to jump into this barrel of crazy.
