In the little bit of time between ringing the doorbell and the door being opened, Kajsa's resolution to wait and make her case had run away. She was about to follow suit except her escape was impeded by her unreasonable boots that were most definitely not made for walking, much less running. She'd actually just turned slightly away from the front door when it opened. Turning back slowly, several emotions slammed into her. She was torn between tears and laughing, and tried to tamp down her emotions as she was almost sure that combination would have turned into hysterics. This was for her mother and her peace of mind. This was the only way that Kajsa could think of to help Linnea's situation. She couldn't get her mother out of the school, but maybe if she made things better for when she actually got out...
"Hi," Kajsa finally managed to say after a few uncomfortable seconds of silence. Clutching her purse with both hands, she tried to ignore the anxiety in her stomach. "I'm Kajsa," she finally said, realizing that this was going to be awkward no matter how delicately she approached it. "Um...we've met. Through...um...some friends when I was...still was...before I..." Kajsa paused. "We've met." Pausing to take a sharp breath, she started again. "I have a...Danny said you might be willing to help me. Maybe. Could I come in?" Looking around suddenly as if Leif was watching (which she wouldn't put past the little rodent), she tried not to seem like some crazy person. Even if she totally was for ever thinking this was a good idea. "I mean...I'd really rather not talk about it on your front porch."
