"Well, damn." Jane said lowly, a somewhat inappropriate reaction to finding out that this man's whole team and students were in there, children he must feel responsible for and even care about beyond the class - if he was anything like one of her cousins who coached football and loved his kids to bits and took them to KFC, helped them out with their personal stuff and was even trying to get the school and the parents to finance a trip to Disneyland in Florida when she'd left for college. Jane's brow furrowed further, and she really wanted to console this poor man, she really did. In the end all that came out was, "I'm real sorry." which was better than nothing because she'd meant it.
He was introducing himself and Jane took a deep, surreptitious breath before grabbing and shaking his hand. "Jane." For his sake Jane tried to smile, but she was sure it looked a bit pathetic. "They know anything concrete yet?" She asked, nodding towards the police.
