The last few days had been something of a whirlwind. First, that mugger in Ann Arbor, thinking he was going to get the upper hand on her. Then, there was Isis, who Athena was certain was Sierra's little girl, Phoebe. She'd have to find Sierra to be sure, but she knew how much it would mean to her sister to know her daughter was alive. Adjusting to the thought of having a soon-to-be teenage siren in her house was a lot to take in, but if Sierra could do it with her, than Athena would manage, too. It was disturbing, in a way, that her first thought centered on when it would be appropriate to teach Isis how to fire a gun.
And then, there was the whole bullshit at the high school. Athena wouldn't be doing her hunter duties if she didn't at least check the place out, because there were a few regulars from the library still trapped inside, and she wanted to be sure it wasn't anything she should be worried about. From the looks of it, she wasn't the only one doing the same thing. Everyone in little Scarlet Oak seemed to be gathered here, waiting for news on their loved ones. Sad, really. If Athena could help, she would, but at this point, it wasn't obvious what to do next, except to wait.
Scanning the edge the crowd, Athena was surprised to spot a familiar face - Carter. He was one of the few men she liked, and considered a confidant, if not a friend. Carter had proved in the past that he was one of the good ones, and he fought the good fight. With a smile, she made her way over to him, signaling her presence to him with a wave. "Funny finding you here," she said, in a way that actually wasn't funny at all, but rather expected. If there was danger around, Carter would want to put an end to it. "I don't suppose you've heard anything about this whole thing that they haven't put on the news yet?"
