i don't want the world to see me
WHO. Caelia and Rina
WHERE. Caelia's home
WHEN. Morning
Caelia refused to turn on her television. She couldn't stand to see the constant news reports about what was going on at the high school. All those people who were worried sick over their endangered loved ones... it struck too close to home and pulled at heartstrings that she knew ought not to be tugged too much lest she be forced to spiral into a wholly Bad Day. The sort of day that would have her sobbing and screaming at anything and everything, including her familiar. Celeste had not been there when the institution convinced Caelia that she was unsound and once there really was a voice sounding in her head, the air elemental's breakdown was nasty and not at all as good as it should have been. Perhaps that was why she had been so initially reluctant when she met Rina for the first time. On the one hand, Rina was her patron because of the time she spent in the institution and that was a time in her life that Caelia would have given anything to forget. On the other, however, having a patron angel was the sort of notion that caused the doctors to fetch orderlies to restrain her or worse, drug her.
'You haven't tried calling her, have you?' Celeste asked from her perch, a piece of dry wood that was fixed in the corner where she liked to stay. Caelia was absolutely against having a cage in her suite, but there were newspapers on the floor to catch any mess that Celeste wanted to make in her own little area as well as a food and water dish fixed to a shelf. Caelia looked up from the balcony doors; just because she was adamant against watching the news did not mean that she could stop watching the world pass by beneath her. The sliding door was open, allowing the cool breeze to flow inside and play with the hem of her dress. Her arms were crossed over her chest and her fingers were absentmindedly clicking the case of her pocketwatch open and closed. Somehow the gesture combined with the sound to create a soothing sort of tick for her.
"Who?" She asked, thinking immediately of Cheila. Since she last spoke to her, Caelia wasn't sure exactly how she felt. Morose? Guilty? Maybe even an edge of anger that she couldn't quite explain? They were all present before she spoke to her sister, but now it seemed they were washing together in a muggy mixture. She couldn't pinpoint one single feeling and figure out why it was there. She knew there was more to say to her sister, but she hardly thought that a telephone was the place to speak. 'No, not Cheila. Rina! When you met, she told you that you could invoke her, bring her to you. It has been a while since you saw her last, and I know you would appreciate the good company.' Caelia nodded lightly. She glanced down at the pocketwatch and rolled it gently between her forefinger and thumb. 'Just feel the need to talk to her. You're her ward like you are mine; if you feel the need strongly enough, then I am sure she will sense it.'
Inhaling deeply, Caelia closed her eyes and thought of Rina. She tried to sharpen her mind, to focus solely on the image of her patron and the idea of how she would greatly like to talk to her. Before Celeste's suggestion, Caelia had hardly realized how nice it would be to talk to someone who understood what she had been through and wouldn't ask questions or expect anything from her that she could not and was not ready to give. She had no earthly idea if she was invoking Rina correctly, but she opened her eyes and peeked around the room to check.
