Charlotte couldn't help but feel temporarily at the mercy of conflicting instincts. Her greatest instinct was to stay near the rear, see to the others, offer whatever help she had in her to give when possible. But her survival instinct was screaming that she just needed to run and leave it to the stronger creatures to look out for everyone else
Nope. Couldn't do it. That wasn't her. When Niamh got hit as Charlotte was passing her, the earth elemental whirled around and grabbed hold of her, doing what she could to steady the water elemental as they began running again. "That's our floor, just hang in there!" She couldn't help but shout it over and over again, trying to convince herself that they didn't have far to go. She felt a burst of speed as she shoved open the door to the hallway, and then she immediately skid to a stop. Those things were everywhere. Dozens of them, all at once turning in their direction. Ideas failed Charlotte. She stood stock still and began chanting wards under her breath. At the far end of the hall a door opened, and a figure very much resembling a bloated, waterlogged corpse began shuffling out of the room, grey water pooling around him with every step. We need the water therapy room, she remembered. "I think that's our destination."
