As far as first impressions during that dance had gone, Charlotte had actually liked Rico. He'd made her feel at ease during an extremely uncomfortable moment. But no one was hitting anyone as far as she was concerned. She was just about to ask one of the guys to throw her over their shoulder and get ready to run - which, admittedly, might have not gone over any better in the long run - when Helena spoke for herself. Thank you, God, Charlie thought.
She looked at Max as he voiced his idea, and even if he sounded very angry and put out, Charlotte thought what he was saying was still... quite noble. "If you're both willing, I think that's a very good idea," she admitted. "And thank you for even considering it." Charlotte continued scanning the map, looking in the immediate areas for the next safe zone. She would have thought it would be close. Maybe the wards followed some sort of clockwise pattern, if it was tied to the time. Then Max announced the time and she actually looked up from the map for the first time since she'd started examining it. What he said made her want to panic, but she didn't have time to panic. Maybe I'm dreaming. Doubtful. "Maybe it stopped when we all..." she didn't know where she was going with that. After looking around the room, she realized there wasn't another clock in there. They needed the time to make this work, so she was going to have to accept that Max's watch read the way it did for a reason, and deal with the overwhelming need to freak out about what that meant later.
She pointed to their position on the map. Niamh had designated Max leader, but Charlie had hardly heard that part. Her brain was moving too fast. "This is where we are, and we've got until 8:50. The next ward starts at the same time..." Her finger trailed across the map, to a location she thought was disturbingly far away. "Here," she said, voice low. "Second floor, room 208. That's two floors up and in a different wing." Oh she did not like this, she really did not like this. She swallowed hard. "I don't think any of us should split up, in fact, I hate that idea. On the way it looks like we'll be passing the water therapy room, and something we need is in there. The room is never warded, so I think we just have to take the opportunity to make a break for it." She looked up, gaze shifting between Lily and Niamh. "Lily, I know this is going to be terrible for you, and let me know if I'm wrong but I'm guessing seeing them isn't going to help you any. So in that case I think Niamh and I should alternate with the last pair." Or monocle. "We're both fast, and I can try blessing the glasses for extra protection."
