School dances - especially the big ones, like homecoming - were the sorts of things Bunny and her mom went all out on. With her Tourette's, doing her own nails and make-up was nowhere near impossible, but problematic. On a daily basis she managed. When something special like this came up, she had her mom do it for her and it was usually a glorious day of mommy-daughter bonding. Which was why, when Jack pounded at her bedroom door, Bunny wasn't even in her room. She was in her fuzzy bathrobe, hair wet, sitting in her parents' room at her mother's vanity while Sheba Digby combed out her hair. Still, even a human could have heard the noise Jack was making, so after exchanging glances, Bunny shrugged and got up to see what was going on.
"What's up?" she asked, as she headed down the hall. "Talk fast, I want my mom has to braid my hair before it dries."
