"Are you serious?"
"Come on and kill that sonofa--"
"Dammit!"
"If you let me get smoked one more time, I'm coming after your asses."
A typical Sunday afternoon in the Summers' household was usually quieter than this, but with Lotti getting ready for the homecoming dance and their mother helping her, Farren was pretty much alone in the house. At least, that's what she thought. Truthfully, she didn't know if Jo or any of the others were hanging around; she did know August wasn't inside. If he was, he would be sitting here next to her helping her show the n00bs just how to play Left 4 Dead. She didn't go crazy for a lot of games, but being able to stave off a zombie horde was just one of her favorite things to do ever since the game's release the previous year. In fact, she would be lying if she said she wasn't excited for the soon to be released sequel that promised a variety of melee weapons. What satisfaction she could feel thwacking a zombie in the face with a guitar or an ax. That was just a feeling that couldn't be replicated.
Of course, what she was hoping for was a relaxing afternoon of zombie slaying. What she got was a team full of people who didn't understand the concept of stick together to survive. "Ugh!" she shouted, flinging the headset off and tossing the controller onto the coffee table. "Stupid asshats can't do a thing right," she sighed into her hands, rubbing her forehead and pushing her hair back. This was usually the kind of mood that the game put her in if she wasn't playing with someone she knew or was dealt a poor team from the start. Farren hated to end the game on such a sour note, though. That was when she remembered that she wasn't alone in the house. She hopped up from the couch, her socked feet sliding along the floor slightly, and ran through the house until she came to Sam's room.
She had yet to officially meet or even be introduced to the new wolf, but that didn't matter. Even a totally inexperienced extra pair of hands and eyes had to be better than the team she just had. "Hey," she poked her head into the doorway, barely knocking as she did so. "Newbie, come give me a hand in the zombie apocalypse and I'll make you lunch in a bit."
