Run and tell all of the angels, this could take all night
Who: Gavin and Langston
Where: Their apartment
When: Late afternoon
Brodie hadn't been by to see Gavin's portfolio yet. It wasn't like Gavin was sitting around waiting for his friend, this was true, but was it so wrong to hope it would be sooner rather than later? The fact that he was so eager to show off, even just a little, had Gavin unsettled too, because it wasn't like him. His conscience said to just call up Brodie and invite him over, but the nagging voice of self-doubt in the back of his head kept talking him out of it. It's only been two days, he kept thinking to himself. Calling him now would just make you seem desperate and you don't want that, now do you?
Gavin couldn't deny the fact that he wanted to see Brodie again. That what he was feeling was what teenage girls called a crush, and he hadn't had that feeling in years. Not since Anthony, and it terrified him. Not that he thought his next relationship would end as badly as his last one did, but still, the scars were there. Last time, Anthony had done all of the wooing. Gavin didn't realize they were out on their first date until dinner was almost over, for crying out loud. He didn't even know how to ask Brodie out. Shit, he didn't even know if Brodie was into guys at all. The way Gavin was starting to see it, he was damned if he did, damned if he didn't.
For now, he was just pacing in his apartment, business done for the day and without any plans for the evening. He'd smoked half a pack of cigarettes in the last hour, and was lighting up another when he heard the door open downstairs. For a moment, his heartbeat picked up, until he caught the scent that came with it. Langston was home, and Gavin forced himself to relax. "I'm pretty sure they can hear you coming from down the street," he called to his brother, taking another drag off of his cigarette.
