Your voice - it chased away all the sanity in me WHO: Maddie & Lex WHAT: Uh. Oh. WHERE: Heme WHEN: Night
There were bad ideas and Bad Ideas. Going to Heme alone was a bad idea, but going alone without telling anyone where she was going escalated that into Bad Idea. Fully knowing that Santiago would have had a loud and angry lecture prepared for her if she told him she was going to Heme again, Maddie had decided to simply...avoid the telling bit entirely. And ever since her brief stint as an earth elemental, they'd actually been learning to get along better. She hated to ruin it all again with something the llama would say that would piss her off and have her saying things that would cause another fight between her and Santiago. After work, instead of going home and/or checking in, she instead dabbed on a fresh coat of lipstick and headed over to Heme.
She'd traded her usual dress-and-heels combo for a look that was more toned down but wouldn't immediately raise red flags as far as Santiago was concerned. She showed her ID card at the door and was allowed in. Maddie took a seat at the bar and waved the bartender down. Ordering a Jack and coke, she tugged at her earring as she waited for her drink order. Her earrings were real silver - a precaution. After all, she wasn't entirely stupid. She wasn't looking for trouble tonight. Just a drink and a dance and she would even be home before midnight. This sort of justification made the fact that she didn't tell her father or her familiar what she was doing. And that she'd turned her cellphone off. Just in case.
