You've got some explaining to do Who: Micah & Hyemi Where: SOHS When: Lunch
Hyemi had been meaning to speak to Micah ever since he died and quit the basketball team. Well no, she wasn't really that bothered about the fact that he'd died (although his new delicious corpse smell could be rather distracting just before lunch), but quitting basketball? That was a BIG DEAL. There was no 'i' in team, that was true, but a good player raised everybody's game. Micah wasn't a good ball player, he was an excellent ball player, and everybody knew it. He'd easily get a scholarship from the college of his choice, and a future in the NBA looked almost certain.
But until that happened? It was his duty to help his team win as many games and titles and trophies as possible. School pride was a big thing for Hyemi, and when Micah had been doing his job properly she had nothing but respect for him; he helped to make Scarlet Oak High School something to be proud of.
Then he quit.
Suddenly, the eternal glory of being a high school superstar didn't suit him and he quit. However, it wasn't just the sport he'd been born to play that Micah turned his back on, but all of his jock friends too. Mr Secret Vampire was just too cool to hang around with sports-people, or indeed anyone that didn't smell like they belonged on a mortuary slab, and now spent most of his time being all ignorant and broody and non-athletic.
Yet somehow, by some divine miracle, Micah had still been nominated for Homecoming court, so obviously it was his duty to make an effort, right? Well no, he didn't seem to think so. In fact, Micah hadn't shown up at all on Fashion Disaster Day, and that? That was the straw that broke the dragon's back.
Hyemi had waited until lunchtime to hunt him down. She'd eaten first, of course, because there was no way she could accost him on an empty stomach, then followed his scent. When the number of vampires in school could be counted on one hand, it wasn't difficult to tell them apart. Besides, Micah still smelt like his old self, just...deader.
Dressed in her superhero costume, Hyemi strode up to her target and gave him an unfriendly punch in the arm. "So, why weren't you in school yesterday? And don't tell me you were sick or something because we both know that you don't get sick anymore." She looked up at Micah expectantly. His excuse had better be good.
