Venus relaxed slightly, but not all the way. She understood, or thought she understood, August's hesitation. It was a pack thing. It was one of those things that would perhaps never fully make sense to Venus' mind. Their family still didn't approve of her. She had been very patient with them, and liked to think she always would be. Eventually she was sure to win them over. So she and Trent had dated for years before they'd finally mated, and when that had happened, some small part of Venus had felt sure that they would accept her after that. It would be done, and there would be no choice but to accept her. That hadn't happened. So now they were going to get married. Would that finally do it?
She smiled softly at August. "I've never done that," she said. "Never ever used magic on him. Was sorely tempted a time or twelve, but I would never do that to him. Ever." Her magic wasn't really the sort you could use on someone when you were angry, anyway, though she didn't know if August understood that. She didn't hide anything she could do or her beliefs in balance, but she got the feeling it was one of those things that just didn't make sense to a lot of people. "I know it's still weird for the family," she murmured. "But I hope you'll all still go to the wedding. For his sake." She hesitated. "I'm going ot ask your sisters to be bridesmaids. I know there's a good chance they won't be comfortable with it, and I'm prepared for them to tell me no. Still, I have to ask." She started to grin. "And if Trent doesn't make you his best man, I may have to make you a bridesman. That would go over well, right?" She giggled slightly. "It's only fair. I never would have met him if not for you."
