August had seen plenty of beautiful women in his lifetime, even flirted with a few of them, but not a single one managed to take his breath away the way that Venus did. It truly didn’t matter what kind of mood he was in, just seeing the way she smiled brought forth a smile of his own. He stepped over the threshold, but stopped short of entering further so that he could warp one of his arms around Venus’ shoulders in a half-hug. The fact that he could breathe in the woman’s scent without having to take an obvious and creepy deep breath in was an ability he would be forever thankful for. Of course, before he could be too appreciative of his heightened senses, the smell of his brother struck his nose. Trent was everywhere, even on Venus, and it made his stomach turn. “I figured it’s been just long enough that we needed to hang out.”
He moved past her toward the kitchen where he could set down his bag of treats. His hand reached in and pulled out a bag of chips, which he pulled open and began eating. “Plus, I’ve really got to hear all about this faerie you met. Are you sure it wasn’t just some crazy off the street?” August grabbed another handful of chips to shove in his mouth before offering the snack in Venus’ direction.
