If there was one thing that Daisy loved about having a house, it was having the ability to have guests over. Of course, she wasn’t always in possession of a house, nor was it often that she was allowed to have people over. When she had finally strolled downstairs to start her day and saw that Joseph had apparently left sometime that morning, Daisy decided that it would be the perfect time to invite Lida over to see her home – which she was quite proud of at the moment. Since things had truly returned back to normal, Daisy had been hard at work making the house they had bought a home. It was important to her and she was convinced that it was equally important to Joseph, whether he said so or not. She had barely gotten a glimpse of Lida’s home, but what little she saw had been nothing short of spectacular. Everything about the other woman had an air of elegance and refinement too it, which were two qualities that Daisy would love to possess for herself. Perhaps Lida would teach her how to be a lady in the same way that she would teach her how to take care of plants. With extreme care that came from more than just carrying the potted plant in her arms, Daisy descended the stairs with a new flower she had purchased to show off to Lida. She had only had it a couple of days, but it was still alive and that was the important part. She twirled over to the phone, amused by the fact that her outfit was equally flower themed. As she punched in the numbers that she had now learned by heart, Daisy looked around all the hiding places in the living room for Bandit. Joseph must have allowed him to tag along on his errand. Her lip pouted a bit in disappointment; she had wanted to introduce her new friend to the raccoon. In her mind, if Lida won over Bandit, it would make things slightly easier in getting Joseph to accept the other woman. Her dominant personality was one thing, but Daisy was not completely ignorant to the color of Lida’s hair and what that meant. Just as heights made her pulse beat harder, the red shade entranced her as much as it did the night she decided to dye her hair. For today, she was hoping that Joseph would not return until much later, like he usually did; plenty of time to visit with Lida and have dinner ready for him by the time he came home. Finally the line picked up and she heard the other woman’s now familiar voice. “Lida! It’s Daisy! Are you busy today?” She proceeded to ask her friend over for lunch or just to visit – whatever she wanted – and reassured her that it would be more than okay for her to bring Toby over. Daisy actually felt herself becoming more excited at the idea of getting to spend time around the young boy. She didn’t spend nearly enough time around children as she would like; granted, she would have been happier if those children were her own. As she waited for Lida to arrive, Daisy busied herself with straightening everything she set sights on – even things that she had previously arranged seconds before. When she finally ran out of furniture, she began to pace back and forth in front of the door until the doorbell finally rang and she bolted forward toward it. She opened the door in a wide swing. Her arms went out into the air as she screamed Lida’s name and wrapped her arms around the other woman. Daisy offered Toby an equally warm and enthusiastic hug once she was done. “Come in! Please!” |
