there's trouble close at hand Who: Hyemi & Rico (glimmer of an NPC Kevin McAllister) Where: Outside SOHS When: As school closes up
"The fuck did you say about my mother?" It was a dumb-assed question, 'cause Rico could hear every damn word of their conversation before he got close enough for them to hurl stupid-assed insults, but still. When he was younger and less prone to beating the jocks into the ground, his Papa had told his it wasn't about getting them to saying it again 'cause you hadn't heard what they'd said. It was to give them a chance to go and explain themselves to you before you just went and put a fist in their gut like he really, really wanted to. Somewhere behind him that silence had fallen that said there was either a bigger fish in the water (usually signalling his mother's approach) or a teacher coming. Neither idea really suited Rico just now. Just now he was busy.
"Wanna take this outside?" The jock -- Kevin McAllister, whose throat was pinned to the lockers by the were's forearm -- wanted detention about as much as he did. Which was to say, not at all. Ever. Mainly because he kept ending up in detention with guys like Kevin and then teachers wondered why nothing was accomplished by locking them in together.
Arm dropping, Rico hauled the bastard's sorry ass away from the lockers and gave him an almost-gentle shove down the hall. "Whatever." That was a yes. His New York accent always came right back whenever he was pissed off, and Kevin had pissed him the fuck off. You just didn't bring Abrielle Palminteri into any fucking argument but her own. What would have been great was if the walk outside was not cut short of his target by just a few feet when someone -- Something. -- barged into him. Jarred to a standstill and pointedly ignoring the laughter in the eyes of McAllister, Rico glared down at the girl he must have been over a foot taller than. He recognised her, sure, but like hell he could be bothered pulling a name out of his ass right now. "Watch where you're fucking going, Pint-size." It was rude. It was completely uncalled for. Had she been a human woman he would have held his tongue and walked around her. But she wasn't, so she could fucking take it.
