science has always been a liar
Who: Layla & Zoie
Where: L'Attique
When: Afternoon
Today was one of those days that felt like it ought to be... another day. Which did, of course, sound completely and utterly ridiculous when said out loud -- Layla knew that -- but it was still true. On more than one occasion she had moved to stand outside the shop, arms folded and wrapped around each other tightly. She kept have partial visions, precognitions of things that would or may well happen to people she did not know. Not all of those things were good. In fact, most of them seemed to leave a lingering feeling of wrongness about them. But then she would blink a few times and find herself back in the here and now, the present sharp and crystal clear. She wondered once or twice if her pupils might dilate when that happened. Would that have been odd?
Moonshine's beak clacked. The sound followed to the point where it seemed the osprey might be right by Layla's ear. 'No, what's odd is that you're daydreaming and your beads look like they're sorting themselves in order of colour.'
Eyes focussing, Layla looked down at the wide glass jars the beads were kept in. When she had started sorting them they were already messed up from the few people who had popped in to buy things to make their own jewellery. Ever since she had been separating them out into their own jars again. Without paying any attention. She cast her eyes once around the store before at least laying her hands on two of the jars so her little psychic display at least looked harder than it actually was to accomplish. It seemed to make people feel better when they thought that she found it dreadfully difficult to lift certain things.
'I want those fishsticks.'
"She isn't bringing any, they're supposed to be crabsticks," Layla murmured, glancing at the clock. Ultimately that now meant that if Zoie did not bring crabsticks or, indeed, completely failed to turn up, Moonshine may never forgive her.
'Personally, I just want to watch you explain that part about Eilidh to her.'
"Give me grief and I'll be locking you in the back room with that awful-smelling batch of incense."
