Oh, how Savvy knew about that deep-down desire for the approval of one's parents. Her parting with her mother had been less than amicable, the sort that was difficult -- not to mention awkward as all get out -- to patch up, and her relationship with her father was non-existent. Talk about uncomfortable. Savvy was making it on her own out of necessity rather than some driving ambition to be independent. Sure, she liked being able to say she was self-sufficient but there was a part of her that wished she had a real family to fall back on all the same. No small part, either.
Just one sketchbook? Madness! Savvy liked having more than one with her at all times, one for very rough sketches and ideas and another for more concrete designs, things she was determined to keep and build on later when she had more time and opportunity. "Why would I mind?" she returned with a slightly baffled look on her face, though she was still smiling. They were in an art supply store, after all! This was the place for questions like that. It was probably a question best answered with visual aids, and with that thought in mind she flicked back the fold her bag again to retrieve the sketchbooks. "It's kind of a hybrid style," she said as she opened the topmost one. The rough ideas book. "Western and Eastern, you know," she went on. "I, uh--" A little heat flushed her cheeks in the pause. "I post my own webcomic online, actually. This right here," she pointed at a mish-mash of panels in the middle of the page, "is a little something I was playing with for my next comic." There was a character featured in the panels that was unmistakably Savvy herself, with a bewildered and slightly overwhelmed look on her face and exaggerated red hair. She had different coloured pens and pencils on her at all times and she always liked to add splashes when she had time. "What about you?" Because she was not about to stand there and talk about herself all the live long day. Wow, no, she was not that girl.
