The others of their type that Teddy had met had been technopaths, for the most part. He'd only ever -- to his knowledge, at least -- met one other technokinetic, someone who had achieved so much power and control that they could do the kinds of things he and, it seemed, this woman were capable of. It had been years since he'd been face to face with another one and for a few moments that was all he could think, that he wasn't even sure what to do with this revelation, when presented with someone else who was just like him. Maybe not exactly like him, and not just for the obvious reasons, but close enough that it threw him all the same.
Teddy couldn't help the breathless little laugh, so brief and subtle that anyone not looking directly at him would miss it, when she offered that little display. How exactly she'd picked up on him and knew that it was safe to show what she just had he couldn't even begin to imagine but did it matter? She knew, and he knew that she knew, and that was that. So he lifted his hand and in a rare moment of confidence outside of his circle -- that was to say Omega -- he mimicked her display with one of his own. Teddy didn't normally do that, the others might not approve, but no one was looking at him. To everyone else he was just a nerdy loner who had come in to access the free wifi and keep to himself. Normally that was the case but it wasn't every day you encountered another technokinetic so Teddy glanced from the drink she held in her hands to the empty seat at his table, a wordless invitation that was discreet enough that he could brush it off as no big deal if she didn't accept it.
