Deep in my bones, straight from inside Who: Drina and Leland Where: just outside the Golden Dragon When: early afternoon
The last few days? They had been tossed over into the category labeled 'something else'. Leland did not mind spending time with Cheyenne, not one bit. The fact that she was practically terrified to spend the nighttime hours alone now? That, that was what bothered him. First it was that Zaviar character who had been cruel to her at her job, and now there was an old, strong vampire snooping around. Leland had to admit, just catching her scent in Chey's house made him equal parts mad and terrified. He would never be able to tell his childe that, though. From what she said, this Eloisa had blood red eyes. The information had been bone-chilling, to say the least, but Lee hadn't known at all what that meant. The only person who would know was his own sire, if anyone. The older Sol was much more world weary than even Leland was. Clyde Merryweather had finally consented to join the 21st century and buy a cellphone and as luck would have it, he'd come across one such vampire like Eloisa. They were vampires of the family called the Four Horsemen, and none of the things that he had to tell his childe were good. It was bad news that there was one who was so keen to seek Cheyenne out because of Missy, and Lee was at a loss for how to find the positive side in all this. The good thing was, the older vampire hadn't attacked Cheyenne and had only talked to her. The bad thing was that Lee wasn't sure it was going to stay that way. And Chey was almost too scared to go to work in the morning. He'd taken to lurking around the school grounds in case she needed him. It was silly, and a little obsessive, but there it was. Logic and Leland rarely ran down the street holding hands.
Speaking of lurking, from what he could see, the school day was just about to end and he'd better make himself scarce. It didn't really look good if students caught him skulking around the campus. He so did not want to be labeled as that guy, despite his good intentions. Lee's steps had taken him away from the high school just as the first few kids started to stream out. He pointed himself towards town and used the little boost he got from the sun to walk just a little bit faster than the normal person. So fast, in fact, he didn't notice that he was in danger of bumping into someone should they get in his way. Just as he had the thought that it'd be best if he slowed down a little bit, someone came out of the door of the Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant and Lee smacked right into them. The collision was violent enough that he was thrown back a little way, his balance wavering as he fought to stay upright. That had hurt. That person -- woman -- was pretty solidly built. The scent flooded his nostrils and the dead heart in his chest gave a phantom squeeze. This woman is a were! "Excuse me, miss, I'm so sorry," Leland gushed, flustered that he'd been so careless. He hid that in one of his winning smiles, or at least he tried to do so. The past few days were still weighing on him. "Are you alright?" He even moved forward and held his hand out, in case she wanted help up. "I'm afraid you missed the memo, today is actually 'tackle a stranger' day. Surprise!" His smile turned cheesy, trying to hide his discomfort in humor. Please don't out me, please don't out me. His fangs were glamoured, this was true, but the woman would undoubtedly be able to smell the death on him like a bad cologne.
