I've always lived like this Who: Elaine and Natalisa Where: Natalisa's home When: Morning
Yesterday had actually turned out to be pretty okay. Elaine had gotten moved into the new apartment pretty easy and Brodie had been a help. He had also ended up being a supernatural who was used to other supernaturals and that was a huge plus. Elaine had grown up with elemental siblings and that meant that she really was used to living around other people who were kind of but not really like her. And she was sure that Brodie's ability was not going to get her in as much trouble as Vicki's had. He was probably not going to use it maliciously against her like her sister had. Unless she gave him a reason to, but the were-merlin was going to do her best not to. And that whole thing started by hopefully making sure that Derrick never found out where she lived. Because god only knew what he would do. Elaine was still pretty sure that he had probably tried to curse her already with that magic of hers and if it had not worked - she was sure it had not, she still felt pretty normal - then he would try again. Really, what had she ever seen in him? Elaine actually looked over to the passenger seat of her truck like she expected an answer to be waiting there. But no, it was empty. Normally Cow would have been there, but he was still at Natalisa's. Elaine was going to have to remember to be extra grateful to Natalisa for agreeing to keep him the entire first night and she had her fingers crossed the entire drive over that the border collie had not gone and eaten a pair of shoes or, way worse, Archie.
Pulling up in front of the house, Elaine spent another minute or two fidgeting with the shift and the keys, tucking her hair behind her ear and zipping up her hoodie before she finally gave up and got out into the driveway. She knew exactly why she was hesitating so much and it was because she was every bit as nervous about seeing Natalisa now as she had been yesterday when she dropped Cow off. A day had passed, sure, but... Elaine had still kissed her and Natalisa had still followed that up with a suggestion that she go home. To her own home, alone. Yeah she was not going to be forgetting about that whole incident anytime soon. Probably not ever. But Natalisa was her guardian angel and already a really good friend again so it was hardly like she could just stop seeing her.
It's fine. Elaine had those two words circling round and round in her head as she walked up to the door and rang the bell. Instantly she shoved her hands into her pockets and began shifting from foot to foot, that old nervous habit just as prevalent now as it had been when she was a kid. It might have even gotten worse since now she had reasons to be nervous that were a slight more serious than they had been. Like knowing that the door was about to open and yes, there was Natalisa. Looking absolutely beautiful and anything that Elaine had been about to say went right out of her head. This right here was one of the reasons why she had started to see the angel in a completely different light; how pretty she was. It's fine! The were got a bright smile onto her face and yanked one of her hands out of her pocket to wave, despite being stood not a foot away. "Morning Tali. Finally came back for that beast of mine. I hope he wasn't too much trouble?"
