Needless to say, Julian was completely unsurprised when his warning went unheeded. Like most of her siblings...well, like most of his siblings too, she was as headstrong as they came. Standing by Lotti, he watched the other wolf carefully, assessing how much of a threat he could actually be. Taking in the other wolf's posture and the general smell of fear and intimidation emanating from him, Julian decided he probably should ease up a little. The last thing he needed was to ruin Lotti's day by being a grumpy old man. Letting the tension ease from his shoulders, he tried to be less intimidating. Although he still didn't want to make the other guy - Sam - think that he had let his guard fully down. He kept his hands inside his pockets and listened as he answered Lotti's questions. It was the stuttering that won Julian over.
"It's all right, we're not going to hurt you," Julian echoed Lotti's sentiment after she'd offered her help. Unless you hurt us first. Just so Sam knew Julian wasn't about to rip his throat out for existing, though Julian did take one of his hands out of his pocket and put it lightly against the middle of Lotti's back. It was a protective gesture, but not one that was overtly aggressive. Maybe just a little territorial, but Julian had the right to draw lines. "Yeah, we can show you to a motel, if you need one?" he added, looking him over. He didn't look like he had a too much on him, except for a backpack. "We've lived here out entire lives, so we pretty much know the place like the back of our hands." That was also a passive-aggressive way of marking the entirety of Scarlet Oak as his territory. Or, you know, in behalf of his alpha. Julian wasn't really a mean person or a bad guy, but he knew he sometimes had to be to make sure his family was safe. They were the important things in life.
