The mood change at the table was very easy to pick up on, and Odin couldn't help but feel responsible. Here he was, being asked a question that should be straightforward to answer to - unless you had nefarious purposes or intentions in dating - and yet he couldn't really come out and say it. Most of all Odin did not want Bella to think there was something fishy going on with him, which could very well be where her mind was going at the moment. "Ah, no, don't be sorry, I brought it up." He smiled as he dipped soy sauce onto his spring roll. "And a first date is all about getting to know each other, isn't it? So it is only fair I answer the same questions you have."
The answer was still not any easier to give, however, and Odin sighed again. "Regrettably, it just never happened. For reasons I won't bother you wit,h however much I'd like to continue my line and have companionship and joy the way my parents have, all of those things...it was just never right." He had never fallen in love with an angel, that was the real problem. "But there is no lack of other kinds of love in my life, at least." He smiled, and then took a forkful of spring roll into his mouth.
