Iron? Yes, Venus supposed that would be true. It wasn't the sort of thing she thought about, you know, ever. "It's not that we've forgotten," she objected lightly, "Not all of us. But how were we supposed to know? Even if your people - er, elders? - told us where you were going... that's not the sort of thing that went into the history books. Magic and supernaturals or preternaturals or whatever you want to call them have only been socially acceptable for a few months - and even that's a stretch in a lot of cases. In fact..." Oh geez, the wheels were turning. "Hold on."
Venus stood and left the kitchen, heading into her bedroom to find a book. She wasn't even sure if she still had it, but she tended to keep all magic books in the bedroom out of habit of having to hide them. She returned with a hardcover book a minute or so later, and set it on the table before Star triumphantly. It was titled Where Have the Fair Folk Gone?, and had been published a few weeks after the Light of May. "See, haven't forgotten. There were all kinds of theories, but most people assumed the fae had all died out. There's a guy interviewed in there who believes humans accidentally killed the fae off during the industrial revolution." She'd had to review the book for her column once, and she remembered thinking he'd sounded a little kooky. Oh hell, her next article was going to be amazing.
