First Fights
Who: Hayden and Christian
When: Nighttime
Where: who knows?
It was close to nine by the time Hayden went up to her room and flopped down on her bed. She'd been studying the script for Into the Woods for most of the day, and spending necessary 'parental' time during the rest. She supposed it was okay and everything. Her mom tended to feel a bit guilty, working so much that she rarely saw Hayden, so every now and then she took Hayden on these massive shopping sprees, leaving Hayden with a bunch of new things she didn't really need or want, but it seemed to alleviate some of her mom's guilt, so Hayden went along with it willingly. Right now though, all she wanted was to talk to Christian, since she'd gone a whole day without even a text.
Grabbing her phone, she sat up on her bed and hoped he wasn't too busy to respond. hey u :) what r u up too?
Christian hadn't done much all day. Just went out to the book store and got one book. And made himself feel like a loser even to a grown up. Big surprise. He was presently sketching on his bed when his phone went off with Hayden's ringtone, sounding a text message. Snatching it up from the bedside table, he smiled and texted her back.
Hey. nothin. drawing. what r u doin?
Hayden smiled at the quick response. At least he wasn't busy, right? Unless he counted drawing as being busy, but Hayden didn't. Especially since he'd texted her back so quickly. nothing! am bored :( what r u drawing?
Christian's eyes flicked to the drawing on his bed, the sketch pad opened to a picture of Hayden he'd been working on. U. he texted. He wasn't going to lie to her. She filled up a lot more pages in his sketchbook since they got together, that was for sure.
Biting her lip, Hayden felt the smile spread across her face. He was drawing her. Again. It was incredibly sweet and made her heart thump loudly in her chest. can I see? She didn't care if she had to drive over to his house, the desire to see him was getting stronger by the second. But she'd only go if he wanted to see her too.
Well that got a smile from Christian. He liked when she wanted to see the things that he drew. Especially when they were her. He liked how she reacted to them. It made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He'd never admit that, but it was true.
If u want u can. Wanna come over?
Duh! Hayden scooted off the bed even as she texted him back. of course I do :) I'll be over in ten! Since she hadn't yet changed for bed, Hayden slipped on her sandals and grabbed her car keys before hurrying downstairs. She stopped in the den long enough to tell her mom she was going to visit Christian - summer meant no real curfew! - and after promising to be careful and be home by midnight, she rushed out of the house to drive over to the Danui's. She arrived not too long after sending her last text, and she hopped out of the car, bounding up the driveway to the porch and front door, where she knocked. She found she would much rather spend her time with Christian than shopping anyday.
Christian was already downstairs waiting for her and pulled the door open seconds after she knocked. He grinned at her and stepped out of the way for her to come in. "Hey." he said, shutting the door once she'd entered and then reaching for her hand to lead her up the stairs. "Missed you today. How'd your stuff go with Day?"
She smiled when he answered, and she immediately took his hand when she stepped inside the house. "Hi. I missed you too. The stuff with Day went well! I can make fire stand perfectly still, even when there's a breeze. And I expanded it too! I think if I keep practicing, it'll come much easier to me. And I keep candles lit at night too, which Day says will help fire become more comfortable with me. What about you? What did you do today?"
He lead her to his room, and once inside, shut the door. "I went to a bookstore." he told her. "Got a book... drew a little, read a little." Christian shrugged. "Nothing really all that interesting. Just kinda lazed about. That's awesome that you're making progress though."
Hayden took off her sandals and walked over to sit on his bed. "Lazying about is sometimes more fun than being super busy," she said, smiling. She remembered what Day had said about Christian not really progressing his own elementalness. "It is awesome! I feel... incredible when I use my element. It's like it listens to me, and I don't even have to speak. All I do is like, feel you know? And it moves, or grows... or stays perfectly still. I'm still getting used to the fact that I could stick my hand in a fire and not burn myself." She paused briefly. "Have you practiced anything with water? I mean... do you try to make progress with what you can do?"
Christian nodded. "I practice a lot... by myself though." he admitted. "I don't really like doing it in front of people. I can make it move though a little. I'm still working on trying to get it to turn to ice but I'm not there yet." he sighed.
"Oh! Good. Because I think Day thought you were a bit resistant to try and work with your element. You can do it in front of me if you ever want to show someone," Hayden offered. "I mean, we could always practice together right? Like, you could try to keep a piece of ice intact and I could try to melt it or something."
"I practice I just... he's probably so much better at it than me and I just... I don't know. Maybe I'll try with you sometime." Christian said, brushing his hair away from his face. "I've never really practiced in front of anyone."
"You don't know that he's so much better than you," Hayden pointed out. "Maybe you're better than he is. But we should definitely practice together." She smiled and then rested her hands on her knees. "Have you talked to Day at all today?" She knew they had been fighting. Or arguing. Whatever. But she was hoping maybe they made up by now.
He shook his head. "No." he admitted. "I think he's kinda mad at me." he sighed, plopping himself down on his bed and shrugging. He should apologize. He knew that. Tomorrow probably. Try to make things better than they were now. He had to fix it.
"Why is he mad?" Hayden asked, perfectly fine with pretending she didn't know anything about it. She reached over to rub her hand up and down his back soothingly.
Christian sighed. "Because I didn't agree with him about all the Tilly crap." he shrugged. "She's got a boyfriend and I guess he wanted me to see his point of view more and I sort of agreed with her... or defended her and didn't really listen to him... I should have listened to him more." he muttered.
"What was his point of view?" Maybe Christian had listened and he was just feeling guilty because Day didn't like Christian's opinion on the whole thing. "Does Day not like her boyfriend?" Maybe Day liked Tilly? Hayden didn't know, since she didn't really press the issue with Day earlier.
"It's not that. He's nice... Days says I mean. He just thinks that she's going into it too fast or something and maybe he's right, but I thought maybe she just really likes him and yeah it's fast, but... if she likes him, she likes him. She's gotta make her own choices right? Which is probably wrong because Day's just looking out for her and I know that I just... I should have listened." Christian sighed. He was feeling more guilty about the whole situation now that he really sat down and thought about it. He needed to apologize.
Hayden listened, and thought she probably understood what he was saying. "So did he just want you to agree with him? Because I mean... there's nothing wrong with really liking someone else, regardless of how fast it moves. You and I have only been dating like, a week, and I really like you," Hayden said with a grin. "Unless Tilly is already thinking about marrying the guy, or whatever... it's nice for a friend to look out for her, but like you said, everyone has to make their own choices."
"I don't know what she's thinking really I mean... she likes him. I guess I feel bad because when I think about it, Tilly's got Hawk and I've got you and Day...? Day's kinda by himself and maybe that's what sucks so bad. So much gushy crap around him ya know?" At least Christian thought that might be what was wrong with the love surrounding his brother. That it was surrounding him and he wasn't really a part of it. But at the same time he wasn't sure Day really wanted to be a part of the love flow.
"I get that..." Hayden occasionally got annoyed at her own friends when they gushed about their boyfriends whenever she was single. She could imagine Day felt the same, with his friend and brother both finding people. "So... we'll keep the gushy crap on the downlow around him. And I'm sure Tilly is smart enough to know what she's doing. Day's probably... he'll be okay." She didn't want to say Day was jealous. Maybe he was just anoyed.
"I still need to apologize to him. Tomorrow probably. I should have listened. I mean... he's my brother and... I always listen to him and... I didn't even really give him a chance to get out what he wanted to say." Christian admitted. "I don't want him to think that I'm completely on her side because I'm not. I just... I know that I like you and how I feel about you and if she feels something like that about Hawk then... I get that, I guess."
Hayden nodded. "I know... and I bet everything will be okay once you two talk. Communication is key, right?" She smiled and leaned in to kiss his cheek. "He's your brother... I doubt siblings can stay mad at each for long. Especially you two." They seemed to be pretty close, and she knew that it probably sucked for them both when they had a disagreement.
Christian nodded. "Guess we'll just have to see." he shrugged. "Maybe he won't be pissed as bad by tomorrow. Maybe it'll be easier." Looking over at his sketchbook, he remembered the reason the girl had come over in the first place. "Oh, I was going to show you my picture." he said, picking up the book and flipping it over to the page with a nearly completed picture of the girl. A view of her face and her tucking her hair behind her ear. "It's not done yet, but almost."
"I don't think Day is pissed at all," Hayden said before she looked at his sketchbook and smiled brightly. She took the picture from him and felt her smile widen. "It's gorgeous. Not me, I mean... your drawing. I love it." He had almost every detail of her face spot on perfect. It amazed her that he could do all that from memory rather than from a picture of her. "You don't know how awesome it feels, knowing you draw me..."
"You're gorgeous, too." Christian pointed out. "That's why the picture looks like it does. It's you. You're pretty. It's pretty because you're pretty." He wondered if she didn't realize that.
She looked over at Christian and smiled again, a soft blush rising on her cheeks. "Thanks." While she wasn't conceited, Hayden knew she was pretty. Maybe not gorgeous, but pretty. She glanced back at the drawing. "Can I see some of your other drawings?" She had only really seen the ones he drew of her. She wanted to know what else he sketched.
"If you want..." he said, shrugging a little and flipping through the sketchbook. A couple of his dad, some of Day. Some pictures of random places in town. One of his mom that he spent about two seconds on before flipping the page to another of Day. "Nothing really important." he said, though he felt bad about it instantly. Christian's mom was very important and he knew it.
She eyed him curiously before taking his hand and moving it away from the sketchbook slowly. And then she flipped back, since she was curious about the sketch he had moved so quickly past. She'd barely been able to look at it. It was of a woman. And older woman, obviously. She wondered if it was his mom. "Is this your mom?" she asked, though she kind of already knew the answer.
Christian frowned a little. "Yeah." he said, fighting back the urge to yank the book away and close it and push it under his bed. "That's my mom." he nodded.
"She's really pretty," Hayden said, studying the picture, just to see if she saw any resemblances of Christian in her. She looked over at Christian before she started to flip through more of the pages, looking for more of his mom. "Do you draw her a lot?"
"Yeah..." he admitted. "There are a couple in there and a ton more in the closet and... in every book I have." Christian sighed. "Drawings don't bring people back." he muttered. He wished that the drawings could bring her back. But he was what made her leave in the fist place. He'd killed her.
"But they help you remember," Hayden said, looking over at him again. "It's nice that you draw her. You shouldn't be ashamed of them or anything." Because she had known exactly what he was doing when he flipped past that sketch so quickly.
"I don't remember her." Christian told her, shaking his head. "She died when I was born so I don't... I don't even know what she sounded like. I've just seen pictures." he muttered. "It doesn't matter." he said, reaching over and plucking the book from her palms and closing it before tucking it under his bed. "Wanna watch a movie or something?"
"Oh." Hayden knew his mom had died, but she hadn't known how or when. She frowned when he took the sketchbook from her. Being a little stubborn, Hayden reached over to pull it back from under his bed. "No, I don't want to watch a movie. I don't know why you want to hide stuff like that. At least you have some pictures of her... and you know her face well enough to be able to sketch it. That's better than having nothing at all, isn't it?"
"No, it's not better." he said, taking the book away again. "I wish I'd never seen a picture of her. It'd make things easier. I wouldn't have to think about her all the time." Christian could feel his eyes watering even as the words slipped from his lips. He shouldn't be saying this. He loved his mother. She was his mother. She meant everything to him.
She drew her brows together thoughtfully, an intense expression on her face. "You would still think about her all the time, whether or not you'd ever seen her face. And it might have been worse, because you wouldn't just be curious about how she sounds, but what she looks like too." Hayden reached out to touch his arm when she saw his eyes filling. "If you wish you'd never seen her, you wouldn't be sketching her, Christian. Making your own memories of her."
"It's my fault she's not here. I shouldn't even be allowed to miss her..." he muttered, shaking his head. "I shouldn't even be here because she'd be here if I wasn't..."
"What do you mean?" Not being allowed to miss your late mother? What did that even mean? "How is it your fault?" She had died when Christian was born... and Hayden couldn't think of any way Christian could have been responsible for that.
"Because, if she didn't have me, she'd still be alive." Christian said, a tear slipping down his cheek. "It's my fault she's dead. She'd still be alive if I never existed." He swallowed and shook his head, wiping the tear away and turning away from her. God he was an idiot, crying in front of her like that.
Hayden wondered what that meant. Had his mom died in childbirth? Did women still die in childbirth? Even with all the medicines and technology? Hayden took a hold of his arm, pulling him back when he turned away from her. "I didn't mean to upset you," Hayden said softly. "Please don't turn away from me. It's not your fault she died, Christian. I'm sure she loved you very much and wanted you to be born. Please don't be upset."
"Don't touch me..." he told her, pulling his arm away from her. "It is my fault. I killed her." Christian sighed, shaking his head and brushing his fingers across his face and trying to stop the damn crying. "I don't wanna talk about it anymore."
She pulled her hand back quickly, frowning and trying not to let her feelings be hurt. "Okay. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." She didn't think Christian killed their mother. And it was painful to know that he thought he did. That explained a lot, actually, about his personality. Hayden bit her lip and rested her hands in her lap. "Do you want me to leave?"
"No..." he said softly, shaking his head and walking over to grab tissues from his night stand. Wiping his face again, he tossed the tissues into the trash and sighed. "I'm sorry..."
Hayden watched him, wishing she hasn't brought it up at all. Chewing on her bottom lip, she wondered what she should say, or do. "You don't have to apologize," Hayden said. "I really didn't mean to upset you... I just... wish you wouldn't blame yourself. You didn't kill your mom, Christian. I can't believe you would even think that."
"I don't want to talk about it." Christian said, shaking his head. "Let's just watch a movie or something, okay? Please?" He was pleading with her to stop talking about it, stop looking at him like that. Like he was a scared little puppy or something. "Please?" he asked again.
"Do you ever talk about it?" Hayden asked. She wasn't trying to upset him or anything, but she had a strange desire to know. Did his dad ever talk to him about it? Or Day? How could they be okay with him going through his life thinking he was responsible for his mother's death? "That's not... something you should be feeling, Christian... you should talk about it... I mean, you don't have to now, but... it's not healthy, I think..."
"It's plenty healthy. I'm fine. Just stop talking about it." Christian sighed. "Do you want to watch a movie or not?" he asked her. "Or play a game or go for a walk or something... just... stop doing that. That... 'it's not okay to feel that way' crap. I don't need it, Hayden." He swallowed after that and looked down at his feet before retreating from his room and walking down the hall to the bathroom. Fight or flight? Running away was his response.
Her frown deepened, and she parted her lips to protest, because that wasn't what she was trying to do. Not really. "But..." Hayden trailed off when he left his bedroom, leaving her there. She didn't get it. Weren't they supposed to talk to one another? Wasn't that what boyfriends and girlfriends did? Or maybe it was just better to make out without all the other stuff. She just wanted the other stuff too. Hayden watched him go, swallowing hard before she slipped off of his bed. After a second of debating, Hayden went after him. "You can't just like... walk away," she said down the hallway. "We were talking, and you just left. Why would you do that?"
Christian opened the door and held his finger to his lips. "Shh." he told her. "He'll hear you and I don't want him to know we're fighting." he whispered. He knew it'd be too late, however, and that Day probably already heard, but he headed out of the bathroom anyway and back to his room. "Because I don't want to talk about it and you do and I can walk away if I want to."
Were they fighting? She supposed they were. Didn't Day tell her they would fight? But she didn't understand why they were even fighting. She just wanted to talk, and she just wanted him to talk to her. Hayden tried not to huff with impatience as Christian moved past her again toward his bedroom. She felt her temper rise and her jaw clenched as she went back into his room and grabbed her shoes before heading for the door. "Fine then. If you can walk away, then I can too." Jerk.
"Fine!" Christian cried after her. "Leave. I don't care!" Only he did. A lot. And it hurt that she was leaving. A lot. But he wasn't going to stop her. He took his sketch book and went into his closet, slamming the door and putting her face out of his thoughts as he slid down against the door. "Why can't I do anything right?"
Hayden winced when he yelled after her, and her eyes filled quickly with tears, causing her to quicken her steps until she was running down the stairs to the front door. Maybe she had wanted him to come after her, and say he was sorry so she could say she was sorry and they could kiss and make up. But he wasn't. Double jerk! Hayden was crying by the time she got to her car, and she stopped long enough to finally put on her shoes. Maybe this is what Day meant by the fire and water thing. She wiped her eyes and cheeks before unlocking her car and getting inside. She wasn't going to go home just yet, because then her parents would be up and see her and she didn't want questions. She'd just... drive or something. The jerk.
Christian swallowed when he heard her steps quicken down the stairs. Listened as the door shut and finally got up from the closet floor. Opening the door, he walked over to the window to look out it. He wanted to follow her and apologize, but she'd just be mad at him and yell some more. But... he couldn't let her leave, could he? No, he couldn't. He opened his door and headed down the stairs, taking them two at a time and pulling the door open, not even bothering with shutting it as ran over to her car and tapped on the window. "Don't leave..." he pleaded. "I'm sorry..."
He appeared so quickly it seemed that it startled her when he tapped on her window. She shrieked and dropped her keys onto the floor beneath her feet, but she looked up to see Christian there. Embarrassed, Hayden reached down for her keys, brushing her cheeks again before she sat up. She hesitated, sitting in the car and wondering what she was supposed to do. Finally she took a breath and opened the door, but she didn't get out just yet. "You said you didn't care if I left," Hayden muttered, her eyes focused on the keys in her hand.
"I lied..." he said softly, swallowing. "I don't want you to leave. I do care. I just... I don't want to fight and I don't want you mad at me and I'm sorry I yelled at you and I shouldn't have and all I do is fuck up and I'm sorry... but please don't leave..."
"Well, I don't want to fight either," Hayden said with a soft air of exasperation. "I just... I don't want to be some girl you just want to make out with, Christian. I want you to be able to talk to me about stuff. And I'm sorry I pushed the issue about your mom. I won't bring it up again if it upsets you... but it's not fair for you to just walk away when we're talking, or even fighting." She paused and sniffed again before pushing her hair behind her ear, glancing back down at her keys.
"I don't just wanna make out with you..." Christian said, shaking his head. "I'd be okay if you never wanted to kiss me again. I'd be okay if you just let me look at you sometimes..." he whispered. "Hayden... I just... I don't talk about her. Not with anyone... I don't... I can't talk about it. I don't want to talk about it. It hurts."
Hayden looked up at him and frowned before she finally got out of her car and stood up. And then she wrapped her arms around him in a hug and pulled him tightly against her. Maybe someday he would talk about it, but she didn't want to be the reason he was upset. "Then we don't have to talk about it." She thought it was unhealthy and sad that he blamed himself for his mother's death, and she wondered if Day knew what went through Christian's head about the whole thing. "I'm sorry I upset you," she said, her lips murmuring against his neck.
Christian wrapped his arms right back around her and squeezed his eyes tightly shut. "I'm sorry I yelled at you and pulled away from you and walked away and lied and... I didn't mean it... I do care if you leave. I don't want you to leave." he whispered. against her shoulder. "I'm sorry..."
All of her temper dulled away instantly and she looked up from his neck, pressing a kiss against his cheek, and then his lips. "I'm sorry too." She knew she shouldn't have pushed him, but Hayden sometimes had issues with knowing where her boundaries were. Now she knew. "I don't want to leave either. I'm sorry I stormed out too... I shouldn't have." Sighing, Hayden pressed another kiss to his lips. "Forgive me?"
He nodded a little and kissed her again and then pulled her tighter against him. "Only if you forgive me." he whispered. He hated upsetting her. Hated that he'd been the reason she'd stormed out. Hated himself for being the way he was. He hoped he never made her storm away again, but knowing Christian, he'd piss her off sometime.
"Of course I do," Hayden said, her arms still holding onto him tightly. Well, hey. At least they had gotten past their first fight, right? It wasn't that bad, was it? She sighed and relaxed against him, resting her head on his shoulder. When she pulled back again, she caught his eyes and smiled faintly. "Do you want to go for a walk? It's a nice night... just... we don't even have to talk about anything if you don't want to."
He nodded. "Yeah. We can do that." Reluctantly pulling back from her, he offered out his hand. Maybe Day was right about fire and water and things not working, but Christian wasn't ready to give up just yet.
Hayden took his hand, not ready to give up either. One fight didn't mean they couldn't work. Every couple fought! This was normal. And they had made up pretty quickly, hadn't they? She squeezed his hand and gave him a small smile before shutting her car door with her free hand and hitting the lock on her keys. Maybe they could just take a walk and cool off and everything would be perfect again by the time she had to leave.
Christian laced his fingers through Hayden's and started off with her down the street. "We're alright now, right?" he asked her.
She smiled at him and nodded. "Yes, we're alright now." They had apologized and forgiven one another. Hayden didn't think there was anything else, except maybe to just cool down a bit and get over it. "Do you maybe... want to go out on a real date this weekend? Like, to a movie or something?" She really wanted to start doing things out of the house, as much as she loved being alone with him. But it was summer, and there was so much to do. She wanted Christian to do those things with her.
"Sure." he nodded. "A movie sounds good. We can go to get something to eat or something and then go to a movie." It sounded good to him. Of course after their argument, everything sounded good to Christian as long as he didn't have to fight with her anymore. Christian really hated fighting. And he was still fighting with Day too, that had to be fixed.
"Okay! We can maybe decide on a movie tomorrow or something." They were planning on a date! So that was good. The weirdness was already fading, as far as Hayden was concerned. She was definitely a fan of the no-fighting thing. And she had every intention of avoiding another argument for a very long time.
"Alright." he nodded. "You know I don't just wanna be with you to make out with you, right?" Christian asked after a long moment. "I don't want you to think that, alright? I mean... I want you to know that I like you, not just your kissing, okay?"
"I know you do," Hayden said with a small sigh. "I never thought that. I mean, I did, but only after you left the room. I thought maybe you didn't want to talk to me about anything. I mean, usually we talk about silly things and make out. I just... want you to know that I'll listen if you ever want to talk about things that bother you. You don't have to hold it in or anything."
"It's not that I don't want to talk to you." Christian said. "It's just... I don't want to talk to you about her. I don't want to talk to anyone about her. That's all. I don't even talk to Day about Mom and I wanna keep it that way. I don't want to talk about her. It just bothers me."
Hayden tried to imagine her life without her mother. And she couldn't. It was just... too painful to even fathom. So she supposed she understood Christian's reluctance. "Okay, I won't talk about her with you, I promise." Hayden ran her thumb over his knuckles. "My parents really liked you," Hayden said, opting for a lighter topic and hopefully on that would make her feel better.
"How do you know that?" Christian asked. "Did they talk about me after I left?" He wondered what they might have said. He still was under the impression that her father saw him more as a boy with a penis that could impregnate his daughter and nothing else, but he kept that thought to himself.
She rolled her eyes and giggled. "They said you seemed really nice. And well grounded." Well, her mom had said so. Her dad had grunted what Hayden assumed was his approval before he'd disappeared into the den to watch the Tigers play. "And my mom said you had really pretty eyes, which I totally agreed with," she said, nudging him lightly with her elbow.
Christian flushed a little at that. Her mom thought he had pretty eyes. She thought he had pretty eyes. They were just blue. He didn't think they were special, but Hayden liked then so he supposed that was most important. "Thanks." he said to the compliment.
"You're welcome." She was feeling much better now, and she hoped her eyes weren't all red and puffy. She hadn't been crying that long, but she still felt a bit exhausted from the fight alone. "Do you think I'll get to meet your dad sometime?" She already knew and liked Day. Christian's dad was just the last piece of the Danui puzzle.
"Eventually." he nodded. "He works a lot so you'll have to come over one night when he's actually home and we can have dinner together or something. He's really busy all the time."
Hayden nodded. "Well, why don't you find out when he doesn't work? Then I could come over." She smiled at him, hoping she wasn't being too annoying about it. "I just hear about him all the time... it would be nice to meet him, you know?"
"Alright." he nodded. "I'll find out and let you know. Maybe it'll be soon." Though Christian doubted that. His dad spent a lot more time elsewhere than at home.
"Okay." Well, she couldn't really pressure him on that point. If he wanted Hayden to meet his dad, it would happen eventually. Hayden licked her lips, trying to think of something else to talk about. "Oh! If you're interested in working behind the scenes on props and stuff for the play this summer? You should probably go down there soon. They're still looking for people..."
He nodded. "Yeah. I guess I should, huh? You wanna come with me?" he asked, sounding hopeful. Christian really didn't want to subject himself to the crowd of people all alone if he could help it.
"Sure! If you want me to go with you, I definitely will." That at least meant he wanted to help out! Which meant she would be able to see him more, and spend more time with him over the summer. He would be there during rehearsals. Though Hayden was thinking about this with the thought that she would already get a part, and she hadn't even auditioned yet.
He smiled. "Good." At least he wouldn't have to go by himself. "Maybe we can do that tomorrow if you want." he suggested. "Gives us something to do right? Instead of just sitting around doing nothing all summer."
Hayden grinned. "Yes... believe me, if you stick with me, you'll have plenty to do this summer other than just sitting around. Not that I mind sitting around with you..." Especially when they had alone time and could kiss all day. "But there's plenty to do around town."
"Well I guess I'll just have to stick with you, huh?" Christian said with a little smile.
Her smile brightened as she looked over at him, her hair falling over her cheek. "Yes, I guess you will." She wasn't going to complain about that at all. The more time spent with Christian, the better.
