At first Nikita offered no explanation other than a smile. She walked deeper into the open space, moving past Missy toward the man tied to the chair. So far, everything was going according to plan and her pleasure at that fact played on her face. “I know you’ve wondered how I always have so much money at my disposal. Don’t lie and say you haven’t.” As she approached the man, she circled around him so that she could look at the other woman from over his shoulders. “Have you never wondered how I manage to always have so many weapons?” From what she could recall, Nikita was almost certain that she had used a different gun every single time she had found herself in a firefight with the hunter; for anyone else, that would have been nearly impossible, if not impractical without the proper resources. “Why don’t we let our guest give you the answer?” She tugged at the gag that he had tied around his head.
“She-she’s an a-arms dealer.” The man’s words were broken with pants of air as he fought to speak through the pain he was obviously experiencing. Someone must have broken his ribs on the transport over.
“That’s right!” Nikita praised as she reached over his shoulder and patted him on the face with all the force of an open-palmed slap. “If you buy a weapon on the black market in the Scarlet Oak/Ann Arbor area, you’re buying it from me.” Her eyes were locked on Missy’s as she spoke. It was simple enough to tell someone that she was an arms dealer. The title seemed so cut and dry, and lacked all of the messy details that went with the job. If your aim was to do nothing more than buy and sell like a businessman from the comfort of your office, then your trade would fall flat on its face in a matter of months. Missy needed to see all of what Nikita did, in gory detail.
She carefully unbuttoned her overcoat, placing it in the extended arms of the vampire standing to her left once she had removed it. With vampire speed, she was suddenly sitting on the man’s lap with her legs wrapped around either side of him. Her sudden appearance caused him to flinch, which only caused Nikita to laugh in response. “Missy, will you come here?” The other woman was much too far away for her to appreciate what she was about to do. She ran her thumb over one of her fangs, studying the man, as she waited for Missy to join her at her side. Though she was fully prepared to sit there in silence, staring, until Missy moved, she hoped that the vampire would continue her reluctant compliance. Once Missy was close enough, she spoke again; her words broke through the silence in the air and caused the man to jump again. Really? And he was trying to start a competition between the two of them. “Missy, would mind asking our friend what his intentions were when he decided to sell my weapons in my area?” She propped her elbow on the man’s shoulder and leaned closer toward his face. “I would really love to hear the answer.”
