Dating was so much easier when the nerves had dissipated and left only a sense of comfort and nice conversation. At least, that's how Keelin felt as she and Reggie waited for their dessert to be served. There was no way around it: Keelin felt great. Dinner had been fantastic, she felt the slightest buzz from her beers, and she and Reggie had been laughing and really just having the best time away from kids and familiars alike. She didn't feel bad about leaving the four of them back at Reggie's apartment; there was no way that the girls weren't having a ton of fun with the puppy and the cat. She could almost picture Pugsley running around Reggie's place, trying to play with Tiger's cat toys while Sarah and Bess laughed and encouraged him. She was glad that the puppy had so many friends that lived on the same floor. But then she supposed that was just his personality; after all, was he not trying to get her to make friends with more and more people? Reggie definitely counted on that front. Then Darlene visited last night and things seemed to go really well with her. If she kept up at this rate, all of Keelin's friends would be earth elementals. Their dessert was finally served, a tall slice of five-layer chocolate cake with chocolate shavings decorating the thick icing with two forks balanced on the side of the plate. Keelin's eyes widened a bit at the sight of the confectionery delight and she was immediately glad that she would be sharing it; she didn't think that she could possibly forgive herself for eating the entire slice. She pushed the sleeves of her dress up a bit and reached for a fork. She didn't wait for Reggie before she cut off a small bite, relishing how easily the fork sliced through the moist cake. She popped the bite into her mouth and closed her eyes when she realized how the rich icing complimented the sweet cake. She swallowed and even licked her fork before opening her eyes again and looking at Reggie. "Yeah, you don't want any of that. I think it's poisoned," She grinned, pulling the plate closer to her side of the table playfully. |
