i'm a taker
Who: Dalila and Lumen + familiars
Where: Palminteri home
When: After school
Dalila had spent part of her day wishing that she had slept longer the night before. Which would have meant going to bed earlier, which would have been easier if she had not spent part of the night tending to a drunk or high or both vampire. Darklis was proving to be extremely entertaining and other than Dalila's family who had needed to know, she was the quickest to figure out that Dalila was a deaf telepath. True, that had been because she thought in some messed up ancient language, but whatever. The fact remained that she knew. Dalila was trying to figure out how best to work it into conversation with Lumen because she was pretty sure that the other elemental was going to be pissed about it and Dalila kind of wanted that to happen. Lumen was supposed to be her best friend and she had probably not even nominated her for court because she thought it was some stupid thing. Dalila could have found out by picking through her brain, true, but she felt like she did not need to do that. It was Lumen. Lumen who was also ignoring her for reasons that Dalila was pretty sure laid solidly behind the fact that she had had Darklis over the last weekend and not her. That's right, the water elemental thought as she tapped her fingers on her math book, staring over it at the blonde who was as far away from her as she could get while still being in the room. It was almost as funny to be ignored in her own room as it was annoying. Almost. The whole reason that she had even invited Lumen over was because this cold shoulder she was getting - cold from a fire elemental! - had hit that point of 'unacceptable'.
'I'M NOT IGNORING YOU.' Jaws was doing his best to grab Dalila's attentions, swimming up and down in his tank while he flashed his fins all over the place. He had even tried jumping out again - seeming to have forgotten the fact that that was impossible with the lid firmly in place. 'LOOK AT ME DALILA, LOOK AT ME.'
She ignored her familiar and focused her stare on Lumen instead. If she kept her look there for long enough there was no way she could keep pretending she was not there. "You know," Dalila said, flicking her pencil across the room because she had finished her homework five minutes ago and was just keeping the book there for some unknown pretense, "Just because you're not saying anything doesn't mean that I can't hear what you want to." A slow grin worked across her face and she shifted so that she was stretched out on her stomach, chin propped in one hand while the other stretched out to hold a strand of water that changed into a ball as she called it from one of her tanks. "You know that. I know that you know and I could keep going but the point is..." The water shifted and formed into what could only be termed a clear, watery and definitely fanged smile sitting in her palm. "She was here last night too. Your new favorite person in the whole wide world." Yes, Dalila was doing this with the deliberate intention of pissing Lumen off. She deserves it for ignoring me just because I went and had someone else over. I can have whoever the hell I want over! She doesn't own me.
'WHY IS SHE HERE IF YOU'RE FIGHTING?' We're not fighting. 'I DISAGREE.' No, if they were fighting the water would not still be in her hand and her bedsheets might have been signed.
