A whiff of cheap woman's perfume took Renee away from her insanely hilarious reverie, having her look to her side to see a young, slightly disheveled woman standing at the bar next to her. One shot of whiskey then another and Renee raised her eyebrow in admiration. And then she ordered the same for herself. She must have still been laughing when the young woman noticed her because she had no reservations about asking Renee if something was funny, finishing the question with a slightly overused term of endearment that only made Renee chuckle again.
"Of course, otherwise why would I be laughing?" Downing her own shot of whiskey, Renee turned fully around to face the girl. Not her usual type, not as sophisticated or refined, but perhaps a bit of a change was needed in every department. "I was imagining my parents' reaction to a sudden career change...on top of everything else I've changed lately." She chuckled again, shaking her head. "But nevermind that, parents are what therapists are for."
