When the line went dead, Reggie froze. No, it was okay, she was coming over and it would all get fixed. She needed to focus on driving, not talking to some guy who would not have even known that she existed without this insane little occurrence. Instead of continuing to freak out like he had been doing all day, Reggie texted Sarah to let her know that she was supposed to go over to Keelin's with her after school. That way he could get this whole thing out of the way with BJ and everything would be fine again. He could refill his apartment with plants and spend an entire day out in the garden growing things to apologize to earth for what he had done wrong. She was probably going to be a little hard-headed about it, but hey, the elementals had to get that trait from somewhere.
Reggie was feeling a little better about what was going on now and he was actually able to go ahead and get a drink out of the fridge. A nice, cold one like he was telling his borrowed element to go ahead and screw off because he wanted not a thing to do with it. Reggie liked cold drinks. He liked going outside in the rain even when it was humid because earth loved the rain and it made things grow. He liked things that fire elementals did not and he did not want to be one anymore. He wanted to go back to being earth so that he could do everything he had his entire life without worrying that he was going to die for it. 'Calm down, she'll be here.' Sarah had shouted through the door that they were back first, though, and Reggie almost popped his head out into the hall to say 'hi'. Instead he just stayed sitting at the counter and waited for the knock on the door. And when that came he practically flew off the chair to open the door.
Yep, that was her exactly. Reggie's smile was relieved as he motioned for her and her little familiar to come in. 'That thing has massive ears.' "Uhhh, hi I guess." What exactly was one supposed to say to someone who had their element when you had theirs and you had no idea of what to do to get it back? "See I half-thought I'd see you and then everything would go back to normal, but since I don't hear Earth shouting at me for leaving Her I don't think that's happened."
