a predator roaring with hunger
Who: Jaladhi and Linnea
When: Early Evening
Where: Outside of Linnea’s house
Jaladhi liked to think that when it came to hunting she had a fair about of skill. After three centuries of tracking down other water elementals, one would have to be exceptionally stupid to be unable to find their prey. Unfortunately, despite all her skill – which was truly exceptional, in her opinion – she was having absolutely no luck tonight. Most of the blame was placed on the heavy rain which, despite the fact that she was enjoying it immensely, was drowning out all of the scents around her. It was also incredibly distracting. More than once since she had left her house, she had started on a trail, only to catch herself moments later dancing through the rain drops. Her feet carried her to the river without her knowledge or consent. One of her greatest regrets upon moving to the small town was that she had not chosen a home closer to the river. It made no sense for her to place herself in the middle of the city. The only thing she could do was put the decision with those that she was sure had made sense at the time and hope that she and Bea wouldn’t spend any more time in Scarlet Oak than they had to. The part of the water that was closest to her home was barely what she would call a river, at least not when she knew that it expanded the further down you went. She slipped her sandals off, abandoning them on the bank, and waded into the water until it reached her calves. The thought of getting her clothes wet never occurred to Jaladhi; she had left the house without an umbrella and had become fully soaked by the rain long ago. She drifted in and out of the water as she continued down the river. This was her definition of pure joy: having the water all around her. Jaladhi was enjoying herself so much that she had completely forgotten about the mission that had caused her to leave her house in the first place. At least that was the case until she caught the scent of something. It wasn’t the blood that the witch had had, but it was so deliciously close. She slowly moved out of the river and climbed up the bank, holding onto the scent before the rain hid it again. The large home took her aback when she first caught sight of it, but the more she looked it over, the more Jaladhi thought that she would love to live in such a large home on the river. She moved around to the front of the house, stopping when she spotted the source of the smell. The woman looked like an older version of Bea, albeit with much more obvious grace and refined beauty. Ideas instantly began to stir in her head. Jaladhi licked her lips as she moved closer to the woman, only mindful enough to keep from making a sound at how delectable she smelled. “Hello,” she said once she was within hearing distance, completely unaware of how off-putting her sudden presence must have been. |
