Eric doubted that was the case with Dorcas. She seemed interested in helping out, and the only thing she'd get out of it was proof of a theory of hers, maybe a full thesis. There was nothing wrong with that. And Eric didn't really need help. He was happier than most spirits, he imagined.
"It's not like the spotlight would be on you, Emma. Judging by what Dorcas said she'd need a truckload of mediums." But of course he knew that by now nothing he said would change her mind. Strong personalities and all that. "You know, nobody said you were forced to be famous. And it would have nothing to do with what type of girl you are. I just said, none of us came up with anything yet and I heard about something that could work. But don't worry about it, we'll be okay."
He half-understood, and half-didn't. To him it was a non-issue, she wouldn't be famous if she didn't want to, and if she wanted to help she might be able to help a lot more spirits if she helped build a system for them. And he should let it go by now, otherwise he might develop a ghostly ulcer. So, he let it go.
