that honey badger ate my homework!
Who: Faith (and her class) and Frankie
When: Late Morning
Where: University of Michigan
Frankie let out a deep sigh as she looked down her chest to where Sonic was sitting. She had been draped across the couch, one leg stretched out and one swinging off the edge, since Faith had left for work nearly two hours ago. The fight she had put up to keep the other were at home had been a formidable one, and though she had managed to keep Faith at home an extra hour, it was inevitable that she would have to leave Frankie for her classes. And then she was alone and being alone made her feel that much more stir crazy. Going to the park was out of the question now. It wasn't that Frankie was afraid of running into that fire elemental again - or any elemental, for that matter - she just couldn't afford to lose another camera. Frankie had been lucky that she hadn't decided to take her digital camera to the park to be reduced to a pile of ash: then she would have been out a grand and would have likely suffered more fire damage to her person than what she had. She was never about to admit that someone had the upper hand on her in a fight, but enhanced strength and speed only accounted for so much when someone could light you up like a match with a single thought. Frankie took another deep breath, laughing as Sonic rose and fell with the movement of her chest. She picked the hedgehog up and laid him on his back, despite his grunts of protest. "Oh, hush. You know you like it." Indeed, all his protests were silenced when she began to rub his soft underbelly. As much fun as it was to play with Sonic, there was no way that Frankie could spend the rest of the day doing so. "What am I supposed to do with myself, little man?" The hedgehog offered no response outside of a sneeze that she was not sure how to interpret. She rolled off the couch and on to her feet, careful to hold Sonic close to her chest so he didn't fall. Her destination was the kitchen, convinced that a little snack might be just want she needed to spark some inspiration. Frankie reached straight for Faith's box of pop-tarts. She set about eating them, taking one bite for herself, then breaking off a tiny nibble for Sonic; back and forth she went until the two of them had to start on a second. Then it hit her! She was going to visit Faith at work, and it was going to be so much fun. The entire trip to the University of Michigan campus, Frankie plotted. She knew exactly what she wanted to do, but getting there was going to be the first obstacle. It was very likely that Faith had told her precisely where her office was, just in case there was an emergency and she needed to find her; it was also just as likely that she had told Frankie where she taught her classes, but the honey badger had been much too preoccupied with something else to listen properly. She walked around for at least fifteen minutes with a confused look on her face, hoping that one of the building names would jog her memory. When nothing came to her, Frankie gave up and stopped one of the many students walking by to ask for directions. She checked her watch as she stepped through the doors, making sure that Faith would still be in class - her plan wouldn't work unless there was still class in session. The room was easy enough to find once she knew where she was going. Frankie peered through the glass window, smiling when she caught sight of Faith, but ducking back into the hall lest she be seen. Oh so quietly, she turned the knob just enough so that the door was no longer latched, but not completely open. With the door in placed, Frankie raced off to the nearest bathroom. Anyone walking down the hall at that moment would have no doubt been surprised to see a honey badger casually sauntering out of the women's restroom. She padded her way back to the classroom, carefully nudging open the propped door with her nose. Her legs crouched, as much as a badger's could, and she kept herself low to the ground as she moved up to the back row of students. What to do first? Frankie was weighing her options when she picked up the scent of a sandwich in one of the student's backpacks. Deciding it couldn't hurt to have another snack, she stuck her head into their bag and began searching for the food in question. |
