The zebra-print attire had been a joke. When she heard there were zebra-print flowers at the park, she'd assumed it was some kind of media hype for a new flower show with custom-print silk flowers. Allegra should have known better. She'd dressed with a safari on her mind and even had time this morning to add a few stripes of black onto her French tips. Around noon, she'd decided to have lunch away from the store and perhaps take a stroll by the park to check the flower show out for fun. Maybe even buy a few to make the house a little brighter. Certainly, the girls' rooms could use a little freshening up. Neither one of them had been home in a while to use their rooms but she figured she could spend some time making the dust bunnies go away. The rain started just as she was leaving the diner. Throwing her umbrella open, Allegra continued on her way.
'Your feet are getting wet,' Moll commented, waddling along next to Allegra. 'You're going to catch a cold.' Allegra smiled down at her familiar and poked the goose with a foot. "So are you," she responded. "I'll be fine, Mother." The goose flapped her wings before settling back down. 'Don't say I didn't warn you.' The goose was, perhaps, happier than Allegra in the rain. Allegra herself didn't mind it. It was all part of the way the world kept the balance of things...sun and rain...all part of the greater cycle. She didn't mind anything that happened naturally. And this didn't count. Allegra had briefly considered if the rain could have deterred some of the folks at the flower show. She needn't have worried. It took several large drops of water to fall on her head before she realized she'd dropped her umbrella in shock. Moll was also staring at the strangeness.
Allegra walked quickly towards the flowers and bent down to look at them. No, it wasn't paint or anything. And the designs were far too intricate for it to have been seeped into the flowers through the water. "No, no, no," Allegra muttered under her breath. This was not good. This was throwing off the balance. And one big shift in the universe like this would result in another one to kick the scales back to normal. Little did she know about the strange elemental situation that was still causing havoc in the lives of several of Scarlet Oak's residents. "Mother, what do you think?" Allegra asked her familiar...who didn't respond because she wasn't paying attention. Allegra looked down at her familiar, who was staring at the flowers in horror. Or at least what she assumed was horror on a goose's face, as Moll's beak was hanging open and her eyes seemed wider than normal.
Bending down to pick the bird up, Moll allowed herself to be lifted into her ward's arms. Allegra could feel the water that had been on the bird's feathers seep into her skirt. "There, there, Mother," Allegra turned around, figuring she must look a sight with a flower umbrella in one hand and a goose in the other. There were quite a few people in the park despite the rain and she approached one of the who was taking photographs and...samples. She supposed some witches could see if they could reverse the magic. That wasn't Allegra's forte. She simply kept the balance. "Flower enthusiast?" she asked as she approached him. "What do you make of this?" Was she imagining things or was his backpack moving?
