Teddy was actually kind of jealous of the fact that psychics didn't get familiars, that it was only witches and elementals. As much as the familiars hanging around Omega were from time to time there was still a part of him that almost wished he had one too. It was a childish sort of envy really, not unlike that of a child in the playground watching another kid play with something you really wanted for yourself. Teddy knew it was ridiculous, that a familiar probably wouldn't really do him any good in the long run, it wasn't like he needed to be stronger, to have that boost, and he'd been entertaining himself long enough that he hardly needed the company, even when the others were all off on some sort of daring mission. Okay, that wasn't entirely true, he'd come to rely on the others in his own way and he hated the idea of being all alone again but he wasn't about to admit that to anyone. No sir.
"But then you'd have to rely on the staff actually reading your shirt, so maybe you'd just be right back at square one," Teddy said with a sort of sympathetic expression. Or maybe it was mildly exasperated. Either way there was a hint of amusement and he grinned back easily enough. "Don't mention it. I can't even remember what I was going to order in the first place anyway." It was said lightly enough that it couldn't be taken the wrong way -- except maybe by the baristas but he had passed the point of caring about their precious feelings after they'd proven their incompetence -- and he lifted his head a little in response to the wave. This was always a little tricky. How to introduce himself. "Theodore," he ended up saying, "but my friends call my Teddy." A fact that he was obviously not at all embarrassed about, thank you very much. And obviously Quentin was more than welcome to call him Teddy, since he'd presented it as an option.
The barista told him the amount and he fished out his wallet, offering her the bills after taking a step forward. She barely made eye-contact with him, he noticed, but whatever. No skin off his nose. "I'll have to remember this place," he said, but not for the reason it would probably be interpreted by most others around them. No, he would be remembering this place so he could steer clear in future.
