He shrugged. Lia came from money, same as him, so replacing things like that was no big deal to either of them. Still better if you didn't have to. "Not that I'm an expert on kids or anything like it, but I think that's kind of the way all parents feel, at least at some points." Or in the case of his parents, all the fucking time, but who was counting? Certainly not him. At least Nix was a kitten and therefore a little easier to handle than an actual kid. Quentin wasn't ever sure he wanted kids and if he did, it sure as hell wasn't going to be any time soon. Willie was more than enough for him.
Innocent ears? Willie tried to laugh, but seeing as he was a seagull, all that got out was an awkward sort of squawking. Aw, hell, how old are you, kid? Shouldn't hang around the two of us, I'll tell you that straight up-"
"Don't you have something to do?" Quentin asked. "Like, I don't know, hunt? Disappear forever and never come back?"
You love me, asshole.
He ignored that, taking another sip of his coffee. One good thing about being water, he supposed, was that he and Lia weren't conflicting elements and therefore wouldn't fight over that. Hearing Lia mention cat nip, though, had him grinning. "You say that now... but I'll totally buy her it for Christmas." Why? Because he could, and that was plenty reason for him, thank you very much. He smirked at the kitten, reaching over to scratch behind her ears.
