Daisy stood on the steps outside of Amazing Grace Church feeling dazed and confused. It wasn't that she didn't remember how the past few hours had just transpired -- unfortunately, she remembered all of it with painful clarity -- but reality was slowly setting back in upon her. She looked down to her hands, which were carrying her outer shirt, tights, and shoes; Daniel hadn't exactly given her much time to get fully dressed. He had been so warm to her before, even despite her reasons for coming to the church in the first place, but afterward, he had been so cold. The only words he spoke to her were enough to tell her that he was finished with her and she could leave. She'd tried to talk to him, to ask him if he was going to help her like he said, but he had only responded by throwing her clothes at her and ushering her out the front door. He'd even locked it behind him. Daisy bent down to slip her heels back onto her feet before throwing the coral shirt back on before the chill in the air seeped into her bones. She held up her tights, which were ripped and ruined, and it was only then that her lip began to tremble. As Daniel and all his sway began to drift from her mind, Joseph returned to his rightful place at the forefront. What have I done? The thought made her stomach roll and there was barely a second before she doubled over and threw up. Daisy turned around to look at the church behind her in horror. It was no longer a holy place or one that inspired reverence in her; it was a symbol of her shame and hatred. She dropped the tights where she stood, her eyes filling with hot, burning tears, and turned to leave. She wanted to run away and never stop, but her body didn't have the willpower to move more than a few dragging steps at a time. Where was she going to go? How could she face Joseph after betraying him so completely? Daisy wished with everything inside of her that she had never agreed to this job. It would have been better for everyone if, just for once, she had just said no.
