'I didn't find Dagmar,' Strike shared as they neared the poolhouse. He was fine with finding Kajsa instead, he quite liked the eldest Niemi daughter. He actually liked them all except for Leif. Even Satu and she was undeniably odd and a bit too... something for his taste. What that something was he was never allowed to explore too thoroughly because Linnea got so terribly touchy about it. As though he was offending her when he said these things about her when really, he was just pointing them out for her benefit. If she would listen. But, with all that Strike knew of his elemental, she would never listen to anyone say a bad word about any of her children and that especially included her youngest. 'But I did find Kajsa!'
Thanks to Strike's warning, Linnea had propped herself up on her elbows and had a smile waiting on her face when Kajsa greeted her. "Hello Kajsa," she returned warmly, motioning to the lounge next to her own. The last time that she had spoken only with Kajsa the conversation had not gone well and she had been left feeling confused, like she had done something wrong without knowing it, but she decided to forget about that. That was in the past and this was now. Now Kajsa was greeting her without a mumble to her voice and she highly doubted that she would be made to feel unwelcome. 'She was just sick, remember.' That did not change the fact that it had stung, but enough! She was not thinking of it. 'I think she's feeling better now.' Linnea did wish that she did not have that cast on her arm. Linnea absolutely hated that her children had been harmed in that bridge explosion. Kajsa, Dagmar and even Satu... of course Leif had been fine even though he had been there. He was Jokull's son through and through and that included being strangely immune to getting hurt where everyone else did. How unfair was that? 'Pregnancy scatters your brain.' Yes. "How are you feeling, sweetheart? And when is it that you're going to get that terrible thing taken off? I'm sure that I'll be able to take you if you'd like. It cannot be an easy thing to drive with." Had she already promised that? She hoped that, she truly did not mean to forget if she had but her thoughts were, as Strike had said, expertly scattered.
