Change your face, keep your name
Who: Micah and Dalila
When: Lunch
Where: SOHS
Just as he was starting to forget about the incident with the crazy woman who had thrown Bibles at him, some student got stabbed in school for being a witch. Considering the whole Light of May business, Micah wasn't completely convinced that the girl wasn't a witch. In proper high school manner, tons of rumors had surfaced about the incident. Some were saying the victim was bewitching the stabber or that the stabber was actually bewitched by someone else to stab the victim. Nevertheless, Micah was still shaken by the situation. A clear hate crime against those that were different...it was the exact thing he'd been afraid of ever since he'd been turned. He rubbed the side of his head. His headaches had not been getting better and he still didn't know what to do about it. It wasn't like he could go ahead and take medication. Well, he probably could. But he was pretty sure he wouldn't like what followed after that decision.
Lunch time was an awkward time for Micah. He used to sit with all the guys on his basketball team and listen to them say stupid things. Not that Micah never said anything stupid...because he did on several occasions. He just couldn't sit with his old teammates anymore...especially not the ones that thought he just straight up abandoned them to become a loser loner. And being in the lunch room itself was sort of inane. People noticed when you didn't eat. Better to stay away from food and off people's radars in general. That way, they could just assume you were a weirdo that ate in the bathroom. Though after Oz had told him that weres could tell by smell, he was sure a good percentage of the population could tell he wasn't the same. Especially the percentage that Micah himself could tell wasn't quite plain human. He was still getting used to it all but he could begin to tell now what was human and what was animal...or another vampire. Like that other girl. The one he was avoiding conversation with.
Micah sort of shuffled along the hall with all the other kids until he was pretty much alone. Everyone had gone off to the lunch room or outside or wherever the kids went to have lunch. He stopped by a table and read the sign. Homecoming court. Really? They were still cheering on school spirit after the rent-a-cops at every entrance checking bags? Before Micah really noticed what he was doing, he had a pen in his hand. He knew who he was going to nominate. In fact, he wouldn't be surprised if someone had already nominated her. They were supposed to nominate people who had contributed to the school. He couldn't think of anyone who had contributed more than the person who was trying to instill tolerance in everyone. He wrote Charlie's full name down and dropped it in the box. Straightening up, he looked around the almost-empty hallway. Now what? He supposed he could go hide out in the library again.
