If I had a dollar for every time that I commit the sin Who: Daniel and Dagmar Where: Niemi household When: Afternoon
Daniel was not the sort of pastor who really made house calls because he was concerned about the well-being of his flock. He did not take a plastic container filled with food, a bottle of 'my grandma's old family remedy' or even a particularly moving passage from the Bible. He took himself and he only ever went to make sure that they would still be coming to service or because he had heard something that he would really love to have confirmed. Currently it was because there was something he had heard that he wanted confirmed. Rumors had been flying that Linnea Niemi was pregnant again. And so very soon after her husband's death! Daniel had never held a single illusion about Linnea's fidelity - and if he had then she had proven how incorrect he was a few times in the past - but what he wanted to know was whether or not this new child of hers was going to be one of Jokull's. Or, in a twist that he suspected would actually surprise most people who knew them, a bastard like Kajsa and Valterri both. Of course Daniel knew which of the Niemi children were not actually Niemi's. The three that were just seeped the demonic that he had found so very entertaining in their father while the other two were just that obviously different. He would never have even pretended to visit one of them out of a feeling of concern for their well-being. Dagmar was a different story. On top of the tales he had heard of Linnea's pregnancy - which he was actually certain were not tales - he knew that Dagmar had been hurt in the bridge bombing. Why she had been there was anyone's guess since he could not imagine the girl actually caring about who had what rights, but the point was that she was hurt. The other point was that her family donated a fair amount of money to his churches and that he had nothing better to do with his day.
The lack of something else to do was really a major factor. The church needed no repairs, his sermons for the next week were prepared and he had taken his familiar out for a ride earlier. Maybe if the bastard horse wandered by again he would go for another, but until then he was doing other things.
Such as sitting in his car staring at the house he had been to only a few times. It took him all of a second to decide that yes, he was going to turn his power on 'high' when he stepped out, rearranged the way that his casual shirt was bunched up and made his way to the door. Now if only the Niemi family were not the sort who kept all their vehicles parked inside of that garage then he would have been able to tell which ones were home. He had no way of knowing that Satu, his personal favorite although Leif was a very close second, and Linnea were not even home. He pressed the doorbell and stepped back slightly, hands in his pockets while he waited. Now when was the last time he had even seen Dagmar? It had to have been over a year since she seemed to be the most reluctant to come to the church. Daniel would have understood if it had been a normal church but like hell it was! If anyone actually listened to his sermons without that pull he always put on them then they could likely use that mass between their ears and figure out that hey, something was not quite right here. But then there would always be the useless ones and, better than that, the demonic-blooded ones who would never be able to go to the real churches. What's really funny is that they're my best benefactors. Real churches could use them.
