Days like today? Keelin could definitely do with less of them in the future. She had no idea what had possessed Karen to attack Penny, but she kept muttering something about Penny being a witch. There was still a great deal about magic that Keelin did not know, so she had no idea whether or not you could tell if someone else was a witch. And so what if Penny was? Why would Karen have been so upset to attack her? There was something else about the girl as she clutched the box cutter so tightly in her hand; she seemed terrified. The whole situation was terrible and Keelin would have liked to have gone home as soon as the students, but she had remained behind for police reports and to help make sure that all the students had been retrieved by their guardians safely. When she had finally made it home, she immediately showered to try to wash away the events of the day, but naturally it didn't work so well. She slipped into jeans and a comfy shirt before curling up onto the couch with Pugsley relaxing on her lap. 'You alright?' he asked with his ears laid back. Just stressed. She ran her hand over his head, pausing long enough to scratch behind his ears. I'll be alright though. I'm more worried about the girls. 'You know you can't lie to me, right?' Before she could even respond, her phone was buzzing with the arrival of a text message from Reggie. She couldn't help it; seeing his name pop up on her phone caused her to smile for the first time since the whole situation with Penny and Karen. After their brief exchange, Keelin looked down at her familiar and tried not to be amused by his already wagging tail. 'We're going over, aren't we? I told you Reggie was good for you.' Now, whether or not he actually did say that was irrelevant, apparently because they were definitely going across the hall. The way Keelin figured, Reggie would be in need of company as much as she was. So really, it was no time at all before she padded out of the hall, not even bothering to put shoes on while Pugsley bounded across the carpet. She rapped her knuckles against the door. "You're to behave yourself, you know that right?" 'When don't I behave?' |
