Girl about to explode Who: Dagmar, Satu and Valterri (NPC) Where: Niemi property When: Mid-afternoon
Munching on the half of a sandwich that'd been left out for her lunch, Satu was sitting in the window-seat of the largest window in the house that looked out over the backyard. Normally she'd be able to see the river down the slope from here, but the rain was getting in the way. She didn't mind! Satu loved the rain as much as she loved the river, but she wished that she could somehow have them both. That'd be for the best. Rain and able to see the river. It'd have been best if she could go down to the river and play in it with the rain falling, but that wasn't allowed when there was lightning. As she'd been told at least three dozen times this year alone: she was a water elemental, not an air, and the lightning would fry her if it struck just like it would anyone else. That was the sucky thing about storms like this. Satu didn't know why it'd come around, everyone seemed surprised by it since the weather hand't predicted it, but she wanted to blame the air elementals. Which meant blaming people like Isolde. Issy who couldn't have done this if she wanted to because that whole level more didn't give her that much of an edge. But she wasn't the only elemental in town and there were probably others doing this. The really, really good question was 'why'?
'Maybe they got bored.' The voice came from where her tiny familiar was busy munching away on a leaf that'd been left out with the sandwich. Satu wouldn't ever understand how Leif could hate their mother when she was so considerate like this. If he'd been around with Miakoda then she'd probably have found some sort of treat for the bird. If birds even liked treats...
"I'm bored," Satu shared as she polished off her sandwich. The suggestion that she do her homework was met with a roll of her eyes. She'd get that done in the morning before class since it wasn't even that hard. She wanted to practice with her element, but there wasn't a whole lot she could do. What would be really fun was breaking out that spellbook Leif had given her so that she could try out a few more spells. She'd mastered the very first curse in there with hardly any trouble and enjoyed setting it into motion at her classmates. There was this boy who sat a row over and two seats up who'd pulled her off the monkey bars a few years back and she got all sorts of delight out of flicking a touch of her blood at him and then watching as the boils grew. He'd cried last time. With more practice and a better spell she was willing to bet she could get him to cry and --
"You seen Kajsa?"
Having her thoughts interrupted wasn't something Satu liked happening. She'd forgive it if it was Linnea or sometimes one of her sisters if she was in a good enough mood. She'd never forgive Valterri for daring to say anything to her if she hadn't said something first. "Nope. Not my turn to watch her today. Ooooor anyone else in the family." Satu rolled her head over and gave Valterri a seriously-now? look. "Don't you have better things to do than hanging out with your sister?"
"Had a question for her, but if she's not--"
"What's the question?" Satu's attention was caught and she'd swung herself around so that her feet were touching the floor.
"None of your business." Valterri was already turning away. Satu nearly started grinding her teeth. It was like he didn't even know her! If he'd been thinking then he'd have never turned her back on her. Rule number one of proper conduct around Satu Niemi if you didn't want to get hurt was never walk away. Satu hated seeing the backs of people's heads. So she thought that it was no one but Valterri's fault when the plate her sandwich had been on went flying out of her hands to strike the back of Valterri's heel with a preciseness honed by hours of pitching practice.
Satu's face was the picture of innocence when Valterri cried out, grasped his heel and turned what she supposed was a glare on her. Well, innocent except for the glint in her eyes. "Oops. Did that hit you? Slippery fingers, you know. Take that to the kitchen and wash it off for me why don't you?" Why yes, yes Satu thought her older brother had been put on this earth to be her personal servant. It was all he was good for!
