"He is utterly loyal to me," Ladonna replied, without a moment's hesitation. "That isn't hubris speaking. When I say he is incapable of disloyalty I mean it. Amazing the sort of contracts and conditions you can create when you have a blood witch supervising the embrace." Sometimes it still surprised her that it worked, but it surprised her more than the Kharon had allowed it. She had wrestled with the idea for a while, whether or not to keep the blood contract her and Angelo's little secret. In the end, her personal value of her own life won out. Normally she was the sort to believe it was better to beg forgiveness than ask permission, but in this case she actually had asked. They seemed to think it was worth it to throw Ladonna a bone. Ladonna had come to the conclusion that she'd been a loyal enough bitch to the house that they felt it was a small price to pay.
Ladonna had to grin at Livia's instruction, but she was at least polite enough to cover her fangs with one seemingly delicate hand. She was the sort of vampire who liked showing off her fangs, but in the world prior to the Light of May it was the sort of thing she only did to someone just before killing them. It was that last kick to get terror coursing through the system. She still hadn't entirely adjusted to being able to show them whenever the hell she wanted - especially to other vampires. Their house might have changed their game-plan overnight, but that sort of thing was still easier said than done. "I take it that no member of the staff would be brave enough to do such a thing."
