Jackson's birth pack hadn't been all that tolerant of lone wolves on their territory but they hadn't been overly aggressive about it either. They hadn't really had to deal with many loners of any were strain, actually, they had been removed from larger bodies of civilisation that usually attracted that type of supernatural, though Jackson was certain he'd seen a few strays -- as a few of his friends had chosen to call them -- out and about in the wilderness beyond their home some days. Briefly he remembered a very curious fox that had been careful about keeping its distance despite its interest in the small group of wolves that had been collected near the edge of the trees. That had been no ordinary fox. "That's good to know," he told her with another small smile and a nod of gratitude for her telling him as much.
It hadn't been Jackson's choice to try the loner lifestyle and if he was honest he hated it, some days with a passion, the wolf side of him would find the loneliness confusing and want nothing more than the companionship of its own kind but it was nowhere to be found. Not the way it used to be, at least. "I guess I'm not doing too badly so far," he said, still holding her gaze, offering the smallest of shrugs to try and brush it off when really it was nothing to be in any way indifferent about. Better to just change the subject. "So can I ask you how big your pack is without you worrying about me trying to gather information for sinister purposes?" Jackson actually did manage a smile then, hoping to put her at ease. He genuinely didn't mean her -- or her pack -- any harm.
